Johannesburg, 29 September 2026 | What happens when South Africa’s No. 1 Feel-Good Station brings its community together for a day of golf, fun and giving back? R5.5 million raised for Good Morning Angels.

Jacaranda FM’s annual Good Morning Angels Golf Day, held at Irene Country Club, has raised an incredible R5.5 million for the Good Morning Angels Fund, creating an even greater opportunity for the station to support listeners and South Africans facing medical emergencies, extreme hardship and life-changing circumstances.

Bringing together approximately 80 companies, the annual event transformed the golf course, bowls field, padel courts and sponsor village into a day of sport, entertainment, creativity and fundraising, before culminating in an evening celebration and charity auction.

Every element of the day, from the hole activations to the teams competing on the golf course, bowls field and padel court, was designed to raise funds for the Good Morning Angels Fund, enabling the station to continue stepping in for South Africans facing extreme hardship and medical emergencies.

“We are incredibly grateful to every company, sponsor, participant, partner and individual who contributed to this year’s Good Morning Angels Golf Day,” says Vuyani Dombo, Managing Director of Jacaranda FM. “R5.5 million is an extraordinary achievement, but what makes it particularly meaningful is what that money represents. It represents hope, dignity and tangible support for people who are going through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. The generosity and creativity shown throughout the day was a powerful reminder of what can happen when our community comes together behind a common purpose.”

The No. 1 Feel-Good Golf Day

The Good Morning Angels Golf Day has become one of the biggest dates on Jacaranda FM’s annual calendar, bringing together the station’s business partners, clients, listeners and supporters for a day where fundraising and fun go hand in hand.

This year, approximately 80 companies contributed to the experience across the golf course, bowls field, padel courts, sponsor village, prize-giving ceremony and auction. The result was a day packed with creativity and entertainment, from spectacular hole activations and sporting challenges to live performances and a charity auction.

The event’s best hole activation went to Sabat and Midas, whose high-energy activation featured superbikes performing tricks and live entertainment. The activation also raised approximately R20,000 for Good Morning Angels through a raffle.

In the Sponsor Village, Skill Set Solutions took the prize for the best participation, while the evening charity auction raised a further R650,000 for the Good Morning Angels Fund.

The auction was hosted by comedian Nicholas Goliath, with guests also treated to live performances from Stephanie Baartman and Demi-Lee Moore.

A night-golf nearest-to-the-pin competition added another R80,000 to the fundraising total. But while the activations, competitions and entertainment made the day memorable, the reason behind it all remained the same: to give Good Morning Angels the means to help more people.

The Impact Continues Long After the Golf Day

Good Morning Angels has spent years responding to the stories of ordinary South Africans going through extraordinary circumstances. From families facing devastating medical diagnoses and children needing urgent treatment to people who suddenly find themselves unable to afford essential care, the fund exists to step in when help is needed most.

The R5.5 million raised this year means Good Morning Angels can continue answering those calls. It means more opportunities to provide practical financial assistance when a listener has nowhere else to turn. It means being able to contribute towards medical treatment, essential equipment, urgent interventions and other forms of support that can make an immediate and meaningful difference to a family’s life.

For Jacaranda FM’s Martin Bester, host of the popular ‘Breakfast With Martin Bester’, the R5.5 million raised is a powerful reminder of the generosity of the Jacaranda FM community.

“The R5.5 million raised through this year’s Good Morning Angels Golf Day is such a strong reminder of how lucky we are to have a network of companies, people and listeners who continue to be so generous, even during incredibly challenging times,” says Bester. “When you listen to Good Morning Angels on a Wednesday morning, you are reminded of the incredible difference that can be made when people decide to step in and help someone who really needs it. So, to everyone who took part in the golf day, thank you, thank you very much. We are incredibly humbled and grateful for the support.”

Bester adds, “The creativity of the activations this year was also next level. I stood at some of those holes and honestly got goosebumps. Ultimately, though, all the fun and entertainment comes back to one thing: raising money to help people. Knowing that the R5.5 million raised will help us make a difference through Good Morning Angels makes this day so incredibly special. We cannot thank everyone who showed up, supported us, donated, and gave their time enough.”

Every Wednesday morning, listeners hear the stories of people who need a helping hand. The fund allows Jacaranda FM, together with its network of Angels, to turn those stories into action. Every rand raised from this year’s Good Morning Angels Golf Day contributes to the Good Morning Angels Fund, which enables Jacaranda FM to assist individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by circumstances ranging from medical emergencies and serious illness to other life-changing challenges.

The R5.5 million raised this year will help ensure that the Good Morning Angels team can continue answering the call when people need a little help, and a reminder that they are not alone.

Johannesburg, 3 August 2026 | Authentic Neapolitan restaurant Settebello has officially been named the winner of 947’s ‘Best Pizza in Joburg’ search, following a city-wide hunt led by the station’s breakfast show Anele and the Club in partnership with Old Mutual Insure.

Hosted by Anele Mgudlwa, Frankie du Toit, Thembekile Mrototo and Cindy Poluta, the station’s popular breakfast show has built a reputation for uncovering Johannesburg’s best food destinations, previously searching for the city’s best wings, chocolate cake, ribs, biltong, samoosas, burgers and cheesecake. This time, the team set out to find Johannesburg’s ultimate pizza, tasting recommendations from listeners across the city before crowning Settebello the winner.

“To be recognised as serving the best pizza in Johannesburg is an incredible honour,” says Pino Di Benedetto, co-owner of Settebello. “Johannesburg has an outstanding food culture, so to receive this recognition from 947’s listeners and Anele and the Club team means the world to us. We’ve always believed that authenticity speaks for itself. We don’t chase trends or take shortcuts. We simply focus on making genuine Neapolitan pizza the way it has been made for generations.”

Since opening its doors seven years ago, Settebello has remained committed to preserving the traditions of Naples, using premium Italian ingredients including Caputo flour, Ciao tomatoes and mozzarella from Puglia Cheese. Every pizza is hand-stretched, slow-fermented to develop flavour naturally and baked at high temperatures in the traditional Neapolitan style.

“Our philosophy has always been simple: respect the ingredients, respect the process and respect the centuries-old traditions behind true Neapolitan pizza,” adds co-owner Ramiro ‘Miro’ Marques. “Every pizza that leaves our kitchen reflects countless hours of preparation and the passion of an incredible team. This award belongs just as much to our chefs, pizzaiolos, waiters and kitchen staff as it does to us. They’re the reason guests return time and time again.”

“We’re fortunate to be part of a city that is home to so many outstanding pizzerias,” says Di Benedetto. “Being recognised alongside such talented operators is an achievement in itself. Healthy competition pushes all of us to raise the standard, and that’s ultimately a win for everyone who loves great pizza.”

The timing of the award carries added significance for the restaurant, coinciding with celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of SSC Napoli, the iconic football club from the city widely regarded as the birthplace of pizza.

“For us, Naples is much more than where pizza was born,” Marques says. “It’s our inspiration, our heritage and the heart of everything we do. To receive this recognition while Naples celebrates such an important milestone makes the moment even more meaningful.”

While Settebello may now officially hold the title of Johannesburg’s best pizza, the team says the accolade is far from the finish line.

“This award reminds us that authenticity still matters,” concludes Di Benedetto. “It’s a responsibility as much as it is a celebration, and it inspires us to continue honouring the traditions that have guided us from day one while sharing a little piece of Naples with every guest who walks through our doors.”

On the back of this exciting win, Settebello extends its thanks to 947, Anele and the Club, Old Mutual Insure, the judges, fellow finalists and the many listeners who voted for and recommended the restaurant. The team also pays tribute to the staff, suppliers, families and customers who have supported the restaurant since its opening.

947’s listeners have made one thing incredibly clear this week: when it comes to authentic Neapolitan pizza, Settebello has earned its place at the top.

The emotional gesture came moments after Kamogelo was revealed as the winner of the R1 million grand prize, following six weeks of on-air excitement that captivated listeners across Gauteng and beyond.

Hundreds of thousands of listeners entered the Goldrush Make Me A Millionaire campaign by registering as Goldrush members, visiting participating Goldrush branches or entering via WhatsApp. Throughout the campaign, contestants won substantial cash prizes during the on-air Cash Calls, while registered Goldrush members who answered the phone with the correct campaign phrase qualified for a coveted Golden Ticket and a place in the Amazing Rush.

Sixty Golden Ticket holders competed in the Amazing Rush at Goldrush Sandridge Square before the field was narrowed to just 20 contestants at Goldrush Kolonnade. After a series of elimination rounds, only three finalists remained: Kamogelo Qolosha, Hendrik Lubbe and Rayvern Coetzee.

The grand finale played out live on Breakfast with Martin Bester on 20 July 2026, where each finalist was assigned a sealed Goldrush box linked to a unique code. On the count of three, all three boxes were unlocked simultaneously before Kamogelo’s box revealed the coveted R1 million prize.

Goldrush ensured the celebration extended beyond the winner, awarding both Hendrik Lubbe and Rayvern Coetzee R100,000 each after narrowly missing out on the grand prize.

But it was what happened next that truly captured the hearts of listeners. Having just become Jacaranda FM’s newest millionaire, Kamogelo surprised everyone by announcing that she would personally gift R100,000 of her own winnings to Hendrik as a thank you for the support, encouragement and friendship he had shown her throughout the Amazing Rush finale.

“The R1 million prize was always going to create an unforgettable radio moment, but what happened afterwards was something none of us expected,” says Vuyani Dombo, Managing Director of Jacaranda FM. “Watching Kamogelo choose to share part of her winnings reminded everyone listening what generosity looks like. It perfectly reflects the feel-good spirit of Jacaranda FM and shows that sometimes the greatest stories aren’t just about winning, they’re about giving.”

“I am so happy,” an emotional Kamogelo told Martin Bester shortly after her win. “My family is listening, and I just want to tell them that our life has just changed for good. My kids can finally have a better life than I had.”

Goldrush also extended the campaign’s impact beyond the competition itself by donating R200,000 to Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels, helping the station continue changing lives through one of South Africa’s most impactful radio-led initiatives. The donation will be added to Good Morning Angels’ Mandela Day fundraising campaign, which raised money to fund life-changing cochlear implant surgeries for deaf and hearing-impaired South Africans through former Miss South Africa Mia le Roux’s About Sound initiative. Thanks to Goldrush’s contribution, the initiative will now be able to fund two additional surgeries, increasing the total number of patients receiving the gift of sound from 23 to 25.

From creating South Africa’s newest millionaire to inspiring an unexpected act of kindness and helping even more South Africans receive the gift of hearing, the Goldrush Make Me A Millionaire campaign proved that sometimes the biggest wins are the ones that are shared.

Johannesburg, 16 July 2026 | In an extraordinary display of generosity and community spirit, Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels has raised over R2 million this Mandela Day to help fund life-changing cochlear implant surgeries for 23 deaf and hearing-impaired South Africans through former Miss South Africa Mia le Roux’s About Sound initiative.

The funds raised will enable children and adults on the waiting list at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital to receive the surgeries they desperately need, allowing many of them to hear for the very first time or to regain the gift of sound after losing their hearing.

To mark Mandela Day 2026, Good Morning Angels partnered with Mia le Roux and #AboutSound, a public-private initiative working to provide cochlear implants to 20 vulnerable state patients. While the life-changing implant devices had already been secured, the project required funding to cover the surgeries after limited theatre capacity at the hospital threatened to delay the procedures beyond the critical treatment window.

Mia le Roux made history as the first differently abled participant to wear the Miss South Africa crown. Having received a cochlear implant at just two years old, followed by years of dedicated therapy and treatment, Mia was able to hear and develop speech. Today, she has dedicated her platform to championing the rights of the deaf community.

“I am where I am because of the way my village carried me and helped me get a cochlear implant,” says le Roux. “I understand the life-changing importance and honour to be a part of this village that will help to lift so many others.”

Cochlear implants are highly effective, technologically advanced devices that can restore or provide the ability to hear. However, the financial barrier is immense, with a single implant typically costing between R400,000 and R700,000, placing the treatment beyond the reach of most South African families.

In an extraordinary act of collaboration, The Ear & Eye Clinic in Meyersdal committed to performing three cochlear implant surgeries each month at a significantly reduced rate, lowering surgical costs by approximately 80% to 85%. This brought the average cost per surgery down to R100,000 per patient for this specific project, making it possible to help significantly more patients.

The first three young patients to receive their life-changing operations on 23 July 2026 are Abdullah Myles (1 year and 4 months old), Amukelo Baloyi (2 years old) and Moloko Mokgwana (9 years old).

The campaign resonated deeply with listeners and corporate South Africa alike, with donations pouring in throughout the morning. Donations came flooding in including R100,000 from LottoStar, R100,000 from Sons of Thunder, R100,000 from Rollfab Engineering, R100,000 from CER Synergies and their EDI Trust, R100,000 from Cubed Coatings along with Fine Blanking Group, R300,000 from The Naked Difference, an anonymous donation of R300,000, R400,000 from GHH Mining Komatsu and R500,000 from the Absa Charity Golf Day. The Good Morning Angels Fund will contribute a further R165,000, bringing the total raised to R2.3 million. This means 23 people will now be able to receive their cochlea implants.

“For this Mandela Day, we decided to go to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg to assist the many people waiting for cochlear implants and help give them the gift of sound,” says Martin Bester, host of Jacaranda FM’s Breakfast with Martin Bester. “We set our target initially at R1 million to help 10 people and ended up with over R2 million coming in to help give 23 people the gift of sound.”

He adds, “As a radio station, Jacaranda FM is all about sound, so to be able to give people the gift of hearing and change lives in such a profound way is incredibly humbling. It’s beautiful to see the power of this big purple feel-good family in full force once again. Our listeners always go above and beyond, and they’ve made this Mandela Day incredibly special.”

For Jacaranda FM, the campaign carried special significance. As a station built around the power of sound, helping people experience hearing for the first time, or regain it after losing it, perfectly reflects the purpose that has long driven Good Morning Angels: changing lives through the generosity of South Africans.

The station’s Feel Good Tour saw Jacaranda FM embark on an epic road trip across Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West, bringing the magic of radio to life and celebrating the listeners, communities and stories that have shaped the station over the past 40 years.

Travelling in a branded Jacaranda FM bus, the station’s most beloved personalities hit the road to broadcast live from schools, malls and popular venues across its broadcast footprint. Along the way, listeners from major cities and smaller towns alike had the opportunity to meet their favourite presenters, enjoy live broadcasts, surprise performances, win prizes and experience the energy of Jacaranda FM up close.

As part of the celebrations, Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels, in partnership with LottoStar and Breadline Africa, donated a life-changing R1 620 000 to replace unsafe pit toilets with modern, safe sanitation facilities at Sijabulile Primary School in Mbombela and Ian Mackenzie Secondary School in Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga. The station also donated R40,000 to Lighthouse Children’s Home in Rustenburg to keep the lights on and support the home’s vital work.

The Grand Finale in Fourways

The Feel Good Tour culminated in a spectacular grand finale celebration at Prison Break Market in Fourways on Friday, 29 May. Listeners gathered for an unforgettable evening as DJ Ankletap broadcast Party Nights With Ankletap live, bringing the station’s birthday festivities to an electrifying close.

The celebration featured live DJ sets from Jacaranda FM personalities Thabiso Khambule, Rob Forbes and Mack Rapapali, alongside performances from DJ Jazzy D and South African music icon DJ Zinhle, creating a fitting finale to a month of celebrations.

Reflecting on the successful month-long birthday celebration, Vuyani Dombo, Managing Director at Jacaranda FM, says, “Celebrating 40 years of Jacaranda FM has always been about celebrating our listeners. The Feel Good Tour gave us the opportunity to leave the studio and connect with the people who have invited us into their homes, cars and lives for four decades. Seeing our personalities out in the communities, hearing the laughter at the schools and witnessing the tangible impact of Good Morning Angels reminded us why we do what we do. We are incredibly grateful to our audience for 40 years of loyalty and can’t wait for what the next 40 years have in store.”

Johannesburg, 20 May 2026 | Few voices in South African broadcasting have evolved alongside the medium quite like Carol Ofori. With a career spanning over two decades, the award-winning presenter, voice artist, podcaster, author, MC and TV host has seen firsthand how radio has transformed and what it takes to remain relevant in an ever-changing media landscape.

From the days of demo tapes and cold calls to the era of social media and personal branding, Ofori has witnessed and embraced the industry’s evolution firsthand. Her journey not only mirrors the broader shifts within radio but also highlights the resilience and adaptability required to build a lasting career in broadcasting.

“Breaking into radio 20 years ago was a completely different game,” Ofori explains. “There was no social media, no LinkedIn, no easy way to showcase your talent. You had to do your homework, find out who the programme managers were, and then figure out how to get their attention. It took persistence, creativity, and a lot of guts.”

In the early 2000s, aspiring radio personalities relied on demo tapes and CDs, often going to great lengths to ensure their work stood out. Programme managers acted as the ultimate gatekeepers, and getting a foot in the door required not just talent but ingenuity. As Ofori recalls, crafting a memorable introduction or concept could make all the difference in being noticed.

Today, the barriers to entry have shifted dramatically. Social media platforms have democratised access to audiences, allowing emerging talent to build their own platforms and showcase their abilities without waiting for traditional approval. While this has opened doors for a new generation of broadcasters, it has also introduced new challenges, particularly for seasoned professionals navigating an increasingly digital-first world.

“Now, anyone can create content and put themselves out there,” says Ofori. “That’s incredibly exciting, but it also means the space is more competitive than ever. For those of us who’ve been in the industry for a long time, it’s about learning, adapting, and finding ways to merge what we know with how things are done now.”

Ofori is a strong advocate for embracing change rather than resisting it. She believes the future of radio lies in blending traditional broadcasting skills with modern platforms, creating a more dynamic and multi-dimensional media presence. It’s an approach she actively embodies, maintaining an engaged presence across social media while continuing to build her on-air legacy.

Her perspective positions her as a leading voice in South African radio, not just because of her longevity, but because of her willingness to evolve. In an industry where relevance is constantly being redefined, Ofori’s career stands as proof that adaptability is just as important as talent.

As radio continues to transform in the digital age, one thing remains clear: the power of authentic storytelling and human connection endures. For broadcasters like Carol Ofori who have successfully navigated both the old and new worlds of media, the future is less about keeping up and more about leading the way.

In a podcast landscape often driven by fleeting trends, The Carwash is setting a new benchmark – anchored by the credibility, experience and star power of three of South Africa’s most respected football figures: Teko Modise, Brighton Mhlongo and Linda Mntambo.

This is not just another football podcast. It is a meeting of minds shaped at the highest levels of the game – a rare, unfiltered platform where elite players speak candidly about football, life and legacy. Together, the trio bring decades of top-flight experience, national team representation and deeply personal journeys that resonate far beyond the pitch.

At the helm is Teko Modise, a name synonymous with South African football excellence. A former Bafana Bafana captain and widely regarded as one of the greatest players in PSL history, Modise’s influence on the game is undeniable. With an illustrious career spanning top clubs including SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, he has earned multiple Player of the Year honours and lifted numerous titles.

Nicknamed “The General” for his commanding presence in midfield, Modise’s football intelligence and leadership now translate seamlessly into The Carwash, where he guides conversations with the same authority and insight that defined his career. Having represented South Africa on the global stage, including the FIFA World Cup, his voice carries both weight and perspective.

Alongside him is Brighton Mhlongo, a goalkeeper whose journey reflects resilience, courage and honesty. Having played for top PSL clubs, including Orlando Pirates, Mhlongo’s career has seen both triumph and adversity.

In 2021, a life-altering on-field injury left him partially blind — a moment that could have ended his story. Instead, it reshaped it. Today, his presence on The Carwash brings a powerful depth, offering listeners rare insight into the mental strength required to navigate professional sport, personal setbacks and reinvention. His voice adds authenticity and emotional intelligence that sets the podcast apart.

Completing the trio is Linda Mntambo, a dynamic midfielder and current PSL professional who bridges the gap between past and present. Actively playing at the highest level, Mntambo offers a real-time lens into the modern game, sharing insights into today’s pressures, opportunities and evolving football culture.

Beyond the field, his presence extends into lifestyle and culture, reflecting the multidimensional identity of today’s athlete. His contributions ensure The Carwash remains current, relevant and deeply connected to the next generation of players and fans.

What makes The Carwash truly exceptional is not only the calibre of its hosts but the chemistry and shared purpose between them. This is a platform built on trust, mutual respect and a commitment to elevating the game.

Together, Modise, Mhlongo and Mntambo create a space where conversations are raw, unscripted and grounded in lived experience. From behind-the-scenes realities of professional football to personal stories of sacrifice, leadership and growth, the podcast offers a depth rarely seen in sports media.

Their combined stature brings instant credibility – positioning The Carwash as a premium content platform that appeals to both passionate fans and discerning brand partners. It is this unique blend of prestige and authenticity that continues to drive the podcast’s rapid growth and gold-standard performance.

As audiences increasingly seek meaningful, experience-driven content, The Carwash stands out – powered by three football greats who have lived the game, shaped the game and are now redefining how it is told.

Thursday 2 April 2026, Johannesburg – Talented DJ, Radio Host, MC and Content Producer, Faith Makubung, better known as “DJ Fae Fae”, is set and focused on growing her brand as the industry ushers in a brand new radio year.

The fabulous YFM DJ continues to host another season of ‘All Girls On Deck (AGOD)’ every Saturday from 6 PM to 8 PM – placing female DJs on the map and shining a light on their music and more. This year, DJ Fae Fae is also working on an All Girls On Decks live experience that will bring live music to the people.

As she continues to build her brand in the industry, “Fae Fae” is currently at Boston Media House, studying Music Production and planning on making it a focus for her to acquire new skills. She plans on adding the Producer title to her growing ventures, as she is on a mission to learn the process of producing her own music.

Determined not to be stopped in her creativity, Fae Fae has a dream to launch a hair business and has started the journey of taking on wig-making classes. She strongly believes that graduating from wig-making school will lead to her eventually launching and selling an exciting hair journey business.

With plenty of big plans for her career and brand this year, Fae Fae has plans for her birthday event, a Winter tour, curating something special for Women’s Month and chasing the Summer as much as she can with travel and work opportunities. She aims to unlock female DJs’ potential in Africa and catapult their careers through her work on All Girls On Deck.

Says DJ Fae Fae: “This year already feels exciting, I am ready to take my career, brand and other parts of my life to greater heights. I have come a long way and have learned so much. I plan on levelling up my skill set – be it going back to school, starting a business or taking All Girls On Deck on tour. I want the world to know that yes we look good, but we really also do know how to actually DJ. We are growing a community of female DJs, not only in South Africa, but throughout Africa and ultimately the rest of the world. It’s time to embrace female DJs and recognise our talent altogether because we are here to stay. Through my platforms and opportunities, elevating women is my end goal, while enjoying the journey.”
