Master Harold… and the Boys.

In Celebrating the Fugard Theatre’s 10th birthday year, and also what was looked forward as their 2020 season, their production of Master Harold… and the Boys, was postponed due to the Lockdown, also enforced across the whole of South Africa. But this did not stop the producers from their dream to have this production seen, and decided to live stream it on their website, which, through this platform, will enable this production to be seen worldwide, and not restricting it to only the Cape Townians.

Master Harold and the Boys stars Kai Luke Brummer, Desmond Dube and Siya Mayola, to name only a few. Presented by Eric Abraham and The Fugard Theatre, Master Harold and the Boys, as directed by Greg Karvellas, will continue to stream, until 20 April 2020.

Cirque du Soleil

Normally, meaning during a life without viral outbreaks and necessities like Social Distancing, the worldwide success which is Cirque du Soleil, brings about 20 productions to life around the world, which add up to their variety of shows being seen already by more than 160 million people, over 400 cities, 60 countries, 6 continents, and 1 World.

In a press release, the Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group stated that since the current outbreak, they have taken rigorous measures to protect its work teams, as well as the public. Because of their priority being focused on the hearth and safety of their artists, their partners, employees, and their audiences, all touring groups and resident productions has been temporarily suspended during the global need for Social distancing.

But, there are some Good News. There are currently three shows streaming on their Cirque Connect page, which will give audiences around the globe some fantasy out of their living rooms, to escape through their streaming offerings. For those like us, who fancies a glimpse of the backstage shenanigans, there is also a 180-degree virtual tour, to get your curiosity fix.

Andrea Bocelli

From Easter Sunday, by invitation of the City and of the Duomo cathedral of Milan, Italian global music icon Andrea Bocelli gives a solo performance representing a message of love, healing and hope to Italy and the world, through an online streaming concert.

The repertoire includes areas like Panis Angelicus, Ave Maria, Sancta Maria, Domine Deus, and what we all need now, Amazing Grace. A Hymn Sheet to sing along with, is also available for download, to make this streaming concert more interactive.

Bocelli, with the foundation that carries his name, is also involved in their own emergency Corona Virus Campaign, and is raising funds through The Andrea Bocelli Foundation, to help hospitals with the acquiring of instrumentation, equipment, and of course, protection gear for the medical staff. Audiences of this streaming concert, may donate to this fund, which can be seen as buying the ticket for his show.

Strome Lewe is die sesde enkelsnit uit die musikant se eie pen en pas sy growwe stem soos ’n handskoen. Dit het ’n moderne kontemporêre aanslag en gaan daaroor om vrede te maak met dinge wat in jou verlede gebeur het. Die snit se meesleurende wysie is nie net strelend op die oor en hartsnare nie, maar is ook een van daardie liedjies wat in jou kop bly vassteek – lank nadat jy dit vir die eerste keer gehoor het.

Die musiekvideo, wat op ’n lang stuk reguit pad buite Bloemfontein in die warm Vrystaatse son verfilm is deur Francois Slabbert van Palm Photography, beeld uit hoe lig ’n mens se lewe kan wees as jy bereid is om die bagasie van die verlede af te skud.  Die storie handel oor ’n nuwe pad wat oop en uitgestrek voor mens lê, maar aan die begin stap jy met al hierdie sakke op jou rug.

Wanneer Mnr Silwer musiek luister, is dit gewoonlik liedjies met ’n mooi melodie. Hy geniet enige genre of styl, van klassieke musiek tot Rock en Blues.  Verder vind hy aanklank by kunstenaars wat die tyd deurstaan het. Hy lys ook oorsese kunstenaars soos Andrea Bocelli, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Bob Seger, Labrinth, Zac Brown Band en Mumford & Sons as van sy gunstelinge.

Jacobus Silwer glo, net soos Shakespeare, dat die aarde musiek het vir diegene wat wil luister en hy wil graag die klanke wat in sy hart leef met die wêreld deel. Die moderne benadering en sielvolle vertolking van Strome Lewe en sy unieke stem, is die perfekte pasmaats vir ’n eindproduk wat nie net ’n omwenteling gaan veroorsaak in die Suid-Afrikaanse musiekbedryf nie, maar ook diep in die publiek se harte gaan nesskop.

Big Concerts has announced that Carlo Bernini, Maria Aleida, Beverley Knight and Anastasiya Petryshak will be joining Andrea Bocelli for his Sold Out South African tour.

Carlo Bernini earned the title of Conductor in 1999 at Livorno Conservatoire, under the guidance of Maestro Lorenzo Paris. Since 1986 Maestro Bernini has been Andrea Bocelli’s friend and artistic director. Bernini and Bocelli have worked together doing concerts, operas, classical recordings and have collaborated with record companies alongside the greatest conductors, such as Z. Mehta, L. Maazel, G. Sinopoli

Cuban Soprano Maria Aleida started her musical studies at the Vicente Emilio Sojo Conservatory in Venezuela in 1999. She currently studies with voice teacher Bill Schuman. She won the Montserrat Caballe international voice competition in Zaragoza (2008), the Mario Lanza Institute in Philadelphia (2009). She is a resident artist at The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. In 2016/17 she joined Andrea Bocelli as soloist in concert in such venues as Florence, Lisbon and Panama. In 2017 she joined a series of concerts with Andrea Bocelli in such venues as Tashkent, Graz, Linz, Marbella, Amsterdam, Kaunas, Riga, Krakow, Bratislava and Budapest.

Pop Guest Beverley Knight has been one of the UK’s most consistent artists for two decades, scoring several Top 10 albums, including the platinum selling Voice: The Best of Beverley Knight. She has sold over a million albums in the UK along the way, including four gold certified albums. Her latest album ‘Soulsville’ was released in June 2016 and went straight into the UK Top 10. Since 2010 she has been working regularly as a soloist and in duets with Andrea Bocelli, joining him in many concerts to great public and critical acclaim.

Andrea Bocelli has recorded 15 solo studio albums of both pop and classical music, three greatest hits albums and nine complete opera. For his latest release ‘Si’, Andrea Bocelli has teamed up with some of the hottest musical stars on the planet – reuniting with his friend Ed Sheeran after their chart-topping ‘Perfect Symphony’ on a brand new song called ‘Amo Soltanto Te’ (written by Ed with lyrics by Tiziano Ferro) and joining with pop sensation Dua Lipa on the single ‘If Only’. Crossover superstar Josh Groban and classical soprano Aida Garifullina also duet with Bocelli on the record,.
