Designed as a light-hearted seasonal escape, the activation will invite families to step into a playful space filled with colour and creativity with a few sweet surprises along the way.

A Garden of Treats and Imagination

At the heart of the experience will be a series of complementary delights that will set the tone for the sweetest visit. Young guests will be able to enjoy an ice cream, sweet packets, marshmallows handed out by the Easter Bunny and face painting. The space will be curated to feel open and inviting, encouraging visitors to wander, pause and take it all in at their own pace.

Creative Moments to Take Home

The workshops will form the centrepiece of the Garden Party, giving children the chance to make something of their own and get their creative juices flowing. Each ticket will include access to a chosen activity, along with an option to have their face painted, an ice Cream stick and a packet of sweets to enjoy as part of the experience. Children of all ages are welcome and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Faizah Behardien, Centre Manager at Cavendish Square, said, “The Garden Party is an exciting way for families to spend time together during the holidays. It brings together creativity, small treats and a gentle sense of occasion, exactly the kind of fun we love to offer.”

Cape Town, South Africa, 6 October 2025: The world’s elite beach volleyball players are set to descend upon Cape Town from 22 to 26 October 2025, where top volleyball players will take over the iconic white sands of Camps Bay Beach for the Beach ProTour, which arrives in Cape Town for the very first time.

With the breathtaking backdrop of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, Camps Bay is set to transform into a buzzing beach arena as 96 athletes from 48 countries compete for glory on South African shores. This marks one of the most exciting stops on the global tour, bringing together fast-paced matches, beach culture, live entertainment, and a festival atmosphere.

The Beach Pro Tour is the premier global professional beach volleyball circuit for both men and women, organised by Volleyball World and the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). Securing victory on the Beach Pro Tour is regarded as one of the sport’s highest achievements, surpassed in prestige only by the World Championships and the Olympic Games.

During the tournament, fans can expect thrilling international competition featuring top-ranked men’s and women’s teams, beachside entertainment including DJs, local food stalls, and family-friendly activities and a global spotlight on Cape Town, showcasing its natural beauty, cultural energy, and world-class hospitality.

“We are thrilled to bring the Beach ProTour back to South Africa,” says President of Volleyball SA, Anthony Makoena “Camps Bay is one of the most spectacular locations in the world to host a tournament of this calibre, and we look forward to welcoming fans, athletes, and partners to an unforgettable week of beach sport and culture.”

The event also holds significant value for the City of Cape Town, with matches set to be broadcast live worldwide to millions of viewers. Globally, volleyball boasts an audience of 480 million, and was the most-watched sport of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

“At Telkom, we believe in creating and supporting platforms where possibility begins, whether through technology, culture, or sport. As the headline sponsor of the Beach ProTour in Cape Town, we’re proud to celebrate more than world-class volleyball; this is about uniting communities, showcasing South Africa’s incredible talent and energy, and inspiring the next generation to dream bigger. Just like the athletes’ pushing boundaries on the sand, we want South Africans to feel empowered to unlock their own potential. Together, let’s turn on summer, celebrate connection, and create magic on the shores of Camps Bay”, said Gugu Mthembu, Telkom’s Chief Marketing Officer.

All the action will be broadcast LIVE on SABC Sport and SABC+.

The event is proudly sponsored by Telkom

Durban, 30 June 2025: Now entering its 13th year, the iconic KykNET SILWERSKESMFEES will take place from Wednesday, 20 August, to Saturday, 23 August, in Cape Town.

In a time where the future of media is often questioned, Silwerskermfees remains both a nostalgic homage and a contemporary creative platform.

The Silwerskermfees champions Afrikaans storytelling, embracing the full spectrum of South Africa’s cinematic voices. This year’s festival will showcase 21 short films, six feature-length debuts, and a documentary slate, which has grown from five to seven titles this year.

The feature films in the 2025 programme are Hen, My f*k, Marelize!, Khaki Fever, Finding Optel, Carissa, and The Heart Is a Muscle.

The programme for 2025 tackles issues of personal growth, social reflection and conflict between historical heritage and contemporary identity. Viewers can expect to meet the Temple Boys from Ravensmead, follow the liberating journey of gang member Jan Bloed, and step into the high-stakes world of a wrestling club in Bothaville – narratives that go far beyond mere entertainment.

Masterclasses and Industry Engagement

Three masterclasses will be covering:

Comedy Acting with Bennie Fourie and Desiré Gardner

Documentary Crafting with Jasyn Howes and Andy Petersen

Short Film Production with Gabriella Blumberg and Jordy Sank

Applications for these masterclasses are currently open and will close on 11 July, with only 15 places per class available in addition to channel representatives and presenters. This is to ensure an optimal learning environment and a meaningful forum for transformative dialogue.

The Silwermark pitching platform returns this year, giving filmmakers direct access to the KykNET and Showmax commissioning executives. This remains an important means for original and local content in an industry dominated by international franchises and streaming enterprises and largely constrained by shrinking budgets and limited distribution avenues.

The festival will conclude with the annual Silwerskerm Awards for Film and TV on Saturday, 23 August, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

Tickets

Tickets are available to purchase both for particular screenings and events via Quicket. For those seeking the full experience, all-access Silver Tickets, covering every screening, session and the awards afterparty, are available at R1,000 through Quicket.

For those unable to attend, the Silwerskerm Awards will be broadcast on KykNET (DSTV Channel 144) on Sunday, 24 August, at 7 PM

The KykNET Silwerskerm Festival is made possible with support from Openserve, the City of Cape Town, the Dagbreek Trust, Village ’n Life, and the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF)

Are gluten free crisps really gluten free?
Is COVID-19 the end of the world as we know it?

After his move to Australia in 2014, DJ/Comedian Kevin Fraser began releasing videos about his experience as an expat through the guise of stereotypical South African personas. The success of these videos was instantaneous, and his fan base exploded.

He has repeatedly broken the 1 million view mark with his videos “South African Supermarkets; ”The Melbourne Train Ride”, “Hairdressers,” and his video that went viral, known as “The Gym Video” from his car. This pushed Kevin to take to the stage with his fusion of music and comedy creating truly inimitable performances.

Primarily known as the guy on the internet who sweeps across people’s feeds with his impressions on the daily struggles of life, he now trots the globe, delivering comedy to every nook and cranny he visits.

Kevin Fraser fans can expect a whirlwind of events as he unearths his frustrations on even the most simple issues of day to day life, eventually realising that there is a dire need to simply – Drop The Pressure!
