Some of Gauteng`s top Portuguese foodies including Adega, Belem Bakery, Bem Bom @ Cabana, Frangalo, Churasco, Taskinha and many more will be cooking up a storm for thousands of visitors all day long. Your taste buds will explode with happiness as you sample the flavours of juicy prawns, chicken and beef espetada, Leitão (pork), chouriço, traditional sardinhas, Peixe Espada (swordfish) and Caldo Verde (green soup), which you can mop up with some pão from the Portuguese bread truck. Satisfy your sugar craving by indulging in some Farturas (cinnamon & sugar fritters) and Pasteis de Natas (custard tarts) to mention a few.

You can wash this repast down with a selection of vinho verde, poncho (punch), Portuguese beers and caipirinha in one of the many tents as well as in the Social Lounge where you can chill (or dance) or simply munch on a prego roll.

The cream of South African, Portuguese and Madeiran musical talent will be on show at this year`s Caravela Portuguese Festival, celebrating Madeira Day. Headline live acts set to perform over three days include The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Locnville, Goodluck, Dr Victor and Kanimambo as well as Portuguese & Madeiran singing stars Jose Malhoa, Alvaro Florenco, Roberto Adao, Joao Quanino and Sidovia Silva.

The Caravela Portuguese Festival is also proud to present some of the country`s hottest Dance DJ`s including the legendary Paul and Luis Almeida, Rob Forbes, Vin Diesel, Dino Bravo, Sasha Martinengo, Mark Pilgrim, Nichole de Silva, Chriz Beatz and Vimo who will keep the Festival pumpin` with classic and current dance grooves ! The dance troupes of Poveiros, Casa da Madeira and Luso Madeirens will showcase traditional Portuguese dancing to enthral Festival goers.
