Big Concerts announced that it is the End of the Road… But not for them as South Africa’s leading promotor of International Artists on South African Stages, but as the World Tour remarking on by the controversial band, Kiss, bringing their show, Kiss: The End of the Road World Tour, to SA with one show only at the Ticketpro Dome, promising to be another Big Concerts Experience.

This concert, which will be presented with aid of Jacaranda FM and Channel 24, will be the last stop on this band’s tour, which includes 16 Cities, in 13 Countries, to be concluded here in Johannesburg in just over 7 Weeks, before their big Kiss Exit Finale in New York, on 21 July 2021….

After an epic and well documented 45-year career that launched an era of rock n roll legends, KISS launched their final ever tour in 2019. This year also saw sold out KISS shows across the globe, with arguably the greatest KISS production ever! The initial tour announcement was met with huge fan demand for added shows, but the End of the Road Tour will officially come to a close on July 21, 2021 at a NY location yet to be named.

Known for their trademark larger-than-life blistering performances, KISS has proven for decades why they are hands down the most iconic live show in rock n roll.  The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, who have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, have said this tour is devoted to the millions of KISS Army fans.

The Rock Spectacle of all time, will come to Joburg, on 25 July, 2020, with one show at the Ticketpro Dome. The show here in SA, will be part of the following Tour Schedule:

Big Concerts confirmed that Judas Priest will be coming to South Africa for the very first time performing in Cape Town on 20^th March 2019 at Grand Arena, GrandWest and 22^nd March 2019 in Johannesburg at the Ticketpro Dome, presented by Jacaranda FM, Bok Radio and Channel 24 – Another Big Concerts Experience.

There are few heavy metal bands that have managed to scale the heights that Judas Priest have during their 40-year career. Formed in the early ’70s in Birmingham, England, Priest were one of the first metal bands to exclusively wear leather and studs – a look that began during this era and would eventually be embraced by metal heads throughout the world. Big Concerts confirmed that Daughtry will be returning to South Africa performing in Cape Town on 25^th October 2018 at Grand Arena, GrandWest and 27^th October 2018 in Pretoria at the Sun Arena at Time Square in support of their brand new album Cage to Rattle. Daughtry will be supported by very special guest Jesse Clegg, in this Big Concert Experience, presented by Bok Radio, Jacaranda FM and Channel 24. Another Big Concerts Experience.

As the frontman for the band bearing his name, Daughtry has become one of the most visible and consistent rock & roll torchbearers of the 21^st Century. Since rising to prominence on the fifth season of American Idol, he has released four albums, all of which reached the Billboard Top Ten and have combined sales over 8 million copies in the U.S.

Daughtry’s self-titled debut was the best-selling album of 2007, which contained four Top Twenty hit singles including the Grammy-nominated smash “It’s Not Over.” Leave This Town also reached Number One in 2009, while 2011’s Break the Spell was certified gold. His group’s most recent record, 2013’s Baptized, featured the platinum-selling “Waiting for Superman,” which the singer points to as a turning point in his song writing.

Daughtry and his band have been performing together for over a decade. As the band continues work on its fifth album (which Daughtry describes in its early stages as having a “bluesy, almost rootsy undertone to it”), they look to contemporaries like Maroon 5 and Train as examples of acts able to maintain their relevance while rock & roll faces an uphill struggle in the mass media. “Those guys are inspirational, showing that you can come back and have a strong presence, even if what you’re known for doing is having a hard time,” he says.

Ten years after launching with a massive splash, Chris Daughtry claims that he and the band have grown the most on stage, and that it’s altered his whole sense of his work. “When we first came out, I’d only known what I’d seen,” he says. “I didn’t know how to be vulnerable, with no pretence. Now it’s walk onstage and, especially in our acoustic shows, just be flat-out honest and open. It’s really helped me realize that’s actually what fans want—they want 100 percent honesty and feeling like they got to know you better.”

Daughtry will be supported by special guest Jesse Clegg. Jesse has been nominated for four South African Music Awards, has released six Top 10 singles as well as 3 albums ‘When I Wake Up’, ‘Life on Mars’ and ‘Things Unseen’.

It was a cold Sunday night, and most people would stay indoors, unless, you get a little crazy. So a crowd of thousands faced those chills to go see a concert featuring a multi-award winning international star at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, last night. South Africa, and Jo’burg in particular, is the first stop for Seal’s twelve country tour, to promote his new album, 7.

The night started with the opening act, Tresor, who showed the audience why he was presented with the SAMA award for best POP Album in 2016. This multiple platinum artist from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, now residing in South Africa, really got the crowd going with some of his hits like Never let me go, and Mount Everest. But it wasn’t until the main act of the night came on, when the crowd really made themselves heard.

Seal came onto the stage in a mysterious, yet powerful introduction on his 1990 hit, Crazy. Dressed in black leather pants and red leather jacket, an entry like no other was the start of an unforgettable experience for a very diverse, and true South African fan base.

It wasn’t even halfway through his second song of the night, Killer, that Seal surprised everyone, creating what I thought was a nightmare for the Big Concerts security personnel. Without warning, Seal came down from the stage, through the barricade of photographers, to unite himself with his audience. In a matter of seconds, he was surrounded by fans, touching him and taking photos, while continuing to woe the crowd.

A lot of stars come to South Africa, telling their fans how much they love and appreciate them, but then they are doing so while hiding behind the barrier of security, dividing themselves from the thousands of people who came to appreciate their work. With Seal, this was entirely different, as he broke down that barrier to initiate an unexpected interaction between him and his fans.

In a press conference after the show, I had the privilege of asking him about his outlook on this topic. He replied by saying that there is no such thing as a bad audience, only mediocre performances. “I don’t like barriers. I know they are there for safety reasons, but I just don’t like the physical gap between me and the audience,” Seal explained. “The whole point of performing is to connect, and my primary mission when I go on stage, is to connect. I have to touch and be closer so that the energy can continue.”

“No one pays to see a bad concert. You have to assume that everybody comes to the concert to have a good time.” Seal answered. What I got out of the press conference the most, was affirmation of his love and appreciation back to the audience: “Basically the crowd wants to express and have a good time, and you have to give them the permission to do that, and therein lies the key. Once you do that, this incredible thing happens, because then the performance becomes multidimensional and the audience performs back to the performer. I draw so much from this exponential effect, when the energy flows back from the audience.”

This was evident when I experienced this first-hand during his Johannesburg concert last night. The intimacy deepened with a few acoustic renditions of some of his hits, with only him, his audience, and his guitar. This brought forward a cherished serenade of his beautiful, soulful voice. This setting was an avowal of his analogy in that performing to his crowd, is like going on a date. Ending this romantic acoustic episode of his show, was a fully orchestrated and perfect version of his 1994 US chart-topping hit, Kiss from a Rose.

The night ended with the crowd wanting more, and for Seal this feeling was mutual. Seal visited South Africa before, and admitted to having a great time here. “I am always blown away by the reception here in South Africa. You always get the true feeling of Africa, and that is why I decided to kick off my world tour here,” he told the media. Getting to know Seal a little more these last two days, I gained more respect for the artist he is, and completely understand the ideology, that humbleness brings success.

Seal’s SA tour is another Big Concerts experience, and an experience it was once again, powered by the magic of Mnet, Jacaranda FM and Channel 24. The next stop for this production before ending in Cape Town on Youth day, is in Durban two days before, at the ICC Durban Arena.
