MEET THE CAST

Raymond Skinner

Raymond is an actor and singer-songwriter who started his performance journey at the age of 16 with the show Beauty and the Beast Jr at the Peoples Theatre in 2018. He has since performed in multiple musical theatre productions at the Peoples Theatre and played the role of Jesus in Oakfields College’s production of Godspell (2024). He’s also received a Naledi award nomination for his performances as Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical Jr. (2023) and won the award for Best Actor in a Children’s Production for his portrayal of Aladdin in Aladdin Jr. (2024), both at the People’s Theatre.

Lesedi Rich

Having performed in multiple Joburg Musicals, Lesedi has featured in Seussical Jr. The Musical as The Cat in The Hat, Stories from the Old Calabash & The Little Mermaid Jr. to name a few; on the Peoples Theatre Stage. In recent years, he has been cast in various roles in Janice Honeyman’s pantomimes, appearing in Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast and his latest supporting role as Lampwick in Pinocchio.

Bethany-Joy Jiyane

From a young age, Bethany harbored grand aspirations of becoming a performer. In 2013, she made the pivotal decision to leave her small hometown and embarked on a journey to realize her dreams by enrolling in the Musical Theatre program at the Tshwane University of Technology. Subsequently, she participated in numerous productions at both the National Children’s Theatre and the Peoples Theatre. In addition to her qualifications in Musical Theatre, she is a trained puppeteer, having received specialized training from Sesame Street, and currently serves as one of the lead puppeteers on the beloved children’s program, Takalani Sesame.

Luciano Zuppa

Luciano started his professional career almost 42 years ago, performing in cabaret shows, plays and musical theatre. His career has taken him on tours all over South Africa and around the world. Peter Pan Jr will be his twentieth production at the Peoples Theatre.

Junior Geel

Junior is a multifaceted performer, excelling as a singer, actor, and dancer. He has had the privilege of working with esteemed institutions such as the Peoples Theatre, where he contributed to acclaimed productions such as Stories from the Old Calabash. He also had the opportunity to showcase his talents in Janice Honeyman’s Beauty and the Beast pantomime in 2024. Recently, Junior spent seven months honing his craft on the ADORA Mediterranean cruise ship, where he dazzled audiences with his performances in multiple shows as a production dancer. Junior is thrilled to be returning to the South African stage with his dynamic range and captivating stage presence.

There is a specific reason why producer/director Jill Girard is so enthusiastic to stage Peter Pan Jr next at Peoples Theatre.

She states, “I’ve always loved seeing parents bringing their children to the theatre and overhearing them tell them that they, too, discovered the magic of live theatre there as children.

We haven’t staged Peter Pan at Peoples Theatre for over a decade, so I’m particularly excited to be staging the new Broadway version of this timeless classic for the first time at Peoples Theatre, which will be a wonderful ‘first’ for not only the youngsters who come watch, but their parents too.”

Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and Captain Hook are here to enchant a new generation of dreamers. This beloved classic will give audiences an immersive, high-flying theatrical experience that captures the enduring spirit of childhood wonder.

Peter Pan Jr. is based on the play by J.M. Barrie, masterfully adapted for the stage to ensure that even the littlest theatre-goers stay captivated by the song, dance and adventure.

In the build-up to Minions & Monsters, releasing in cinemas nationwide on Friday 26 June 2026, two of the franchise’s most playful troublemakers, Henry and James, will be making a special appearance at The Magical Marble Family Fest on 9 and 10 May at James & Ethel Gray Park.

This marks their debut appearance in Gauteng, giving fans an early taste of the fun ahead. Expect plenty of laughs, a little chaos and the kind of cheeky playfulness that only the Minions can get away with.

The pair will be based at the Minions hangout near the amazing Magical Marble Family Fest double-decker carousel, where festivalgoers can meet them between 11 AM and 6 PM on both days. It is a chance to step into their world for a moment, snap a photo and enjoy the playful spirit they are known for. The first day of the festival is already sold out, and with Henry and James in the mix, the weekend promises to be jam-packed with magical mischief.

Taking the Fun Across the Country

After their Johannesburg appearance, Henry and James will embark on a nationwide tour from Friday, 26 June onwards, bringing the Minions experience to malls and cinemas around South Africa.

In Gauteng, they will visit Eastgate, Mall of Africa, Menlyn Park, The Glen, The Grove and The Zone @ Rosebank. The Western Cape will see appearances at Blue Route, Canal Walk, Somerset Mall, Tyger Valley and V & A Waterfront. In KwaZulu-Natal, fans can catch them at Cornubia, Gateway, Galleria and Pavilion, while Mpumalanga will host them at Ilanga Mall, and Limpopo at Mall of the North.

Minions & Monsters continues the story of the world’s most loveable troublemakers, taking them on a new adventure filled with big personalities and unexpected twists. Nearby, the Sweet Wall bauble-making station will enable visitors to fill and design a personalised sweet-filled bauble, also priced at R50, which makes a lovely keepsake or gift.

Meaningful Moments and Festive Traditions

In addition to Candy Cane Lane, Eastgate has a vibrant array of festive activities planned to celebrate the season wholeheartedly across the centre. Photos with Santa will be available from 5 to 24 December in the Strelitzia Court next to Candy Cane Lane. Live Carols and Extended Shopping Hours

Live Christmas Carols will take place on selected evenings in the outdoor piazza area. A mix of beloved carols, live musicians, dancers, ballerinas and a graceful skating act will create a beautiful performance for visitors to enjoy. Guests can also settle in at restaurants such as Piatto, News Cafe, Zor, Comida, Gelato Mania or Pizza Hut and take in these performances while dining. Alex the Lion is the king of the urban jungle and the main attraction at New York’s Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them, not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape — with the help of some mischievous penguins — to explore the world.

Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the ‘Hip Hip Hippo’, and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they “Move it ! Move It!” in the adventure of a lifetime.

Recently, Junior spent seven months honing his craft on the ADORA Mediterranean cruise ship, where he dazzled audiences with his performances in multiple shows as a production dancer. Fresh from his international experience, Junior is thrilled to be returning to the South African stage, reprising his collaboration with the Peoples Theatre for the hit production of Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. With his dynamic range and captivating stage presence, Junior Geel is sure to leave a lasting impression on audiences everywhere.

Bethany-Joy Jiyane

From the quaint town of Jeffrey’s Bay, Bethany harbored grand aspirations of becoming a performer. In 2013, she made the pivotal decision to leave her small hometown and embarked on a journey to realize her dreams by enrolling in the Musical Theatre program at the Tshwane University of Technology. Subsequently, she participated in numerous productions at both the National Children’s Theatre and the Peoples Theatre. In addition to her qualifications in Musical Theatre, she is a trained puppeteer, having received specialized training from Sesame Street, and currently serves as one of the lead puppeteers on the beloved children’s program, Takalani Sesame. Bethany is excited to be back at the Peoples Theatre, taking on the spunky role of Gloria the Hippo in Madagascar.

Lwazi Pinyana

Lwazi, born in the city of Durban, is a director and performer currently residing in the city of Johannesburg. He began his career as part of the YPP: Young Performers’ Project’s staging of Footloose, directed by Themi Venturas. He would then continue to solidify his presence in theatre performance in Sarafina! The Musical (2019), How Long? The Musical and Sinbad: The Sailor, among many others. Lwazi is now studying a Master’s degree at the University of Witwatersrand in Theatre and Performance. Lwazi most recently contributed his talents to productions such as The Rhythms and Rhymes of Mother Goose, The Mantis & the Moon and in a special performance with the cast of Sarafina.

Raymond Skinner

Raymond is an actor and aspiring singer/songwriter who started his performance journey at the age of 16, with the show Beauty and the Beast Jr at the Peoples Theatre in 2018. He has since performed in multiple musical theatre productions at the Peoples Theatre and played the role of Jesus in Oakfields College’s production of Godspell (2024). He’s also received a Naledi award nomination for his performances as Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical Jr. (2023) and won the award for Best Actor in a Children’s Production for his portrayal of Aladdin in Aladdin Jr. (2024), both at the People’s Theatre.

Amelia Stephens

Amelia is a singer and actress who recently graduated as the top student from Oakfields College with a diploma in Musical Theatre and Dance. She has been in productions such as Sister Act (2022), Reflections (2023), Godspell (2024), and, most recently, Seussical Jr. at the People’s Theatre (2025). Her professional career highlight, so far, has been playing the role of Miss. Honey in the Peoples Theatre 2025 production of Matilda.
