To further celebrate the release of their new sophomore album, Love & Legehness, Van Pletzen have released the Behind The Scenes footage of the making of the music video for their latest single, Dronk op Liefde. Released on 31 March 2020, the video already has close to 200 000 views.

Another collaboration with Early B, a true master of legehness, Dronk op Liefde is the 6th time Van Pletzen and Early B have worked together on an official release and they hope to do so a lot more in the future! Dronk op Liefde was written in late 2019 with liefde as inspirasie and how being in love is sort of like being a bit dronk – you make strange decisions and sometimes act like a dom fool. Dronk op Liefde is another kak original and kakgroot offering from Van Pletzen, which everyone needs to go luister.

Their music video for Jy Bly Stil is about to hit a million views on Youtube, which is a big milestone for the band! Talking about milestones, the band is excited to announce a kakgroot collaboration with Francois van Coke which will be released in August this year.  They promise that the song will be an epic one that will be at least 5 minutes long and that it will have a bunch of guitar solos and that it will not be suitable for radio because it will be too kakmal, so be sure to kyk uit for the grootness!

It was the Big Day on Sunday, 7 July, when the winner of The Voice South Africa was announced during a live broadcast on M-Net.  After the Top 5 Talent were cut down during the progress of an Audio and Visual spectacular, host Anele Mdoda announced the Top 2 of this season, being Wild Card, Soné Joubert and Tasché Burger.

With one of her final, very fitting songs, Let it Be, Burger was announced the Winner, making newcomer to the Coaching Panel, Francois van Coke, this year’s winning Mentor.  Burger is South Africa’s first female winner of The Voice, following the wins of Richard Stirton and Craig Lucas in Season 1 and Season 2 respectively.

The Finale kicked off with the season’s top 5 Talent and the 4 coaches introducing the proceedings with a winner’s rendition of We Will Rock You.  Hopeful contenders in the running were crooner Eon le Roux and African princess Siki Jo-An, both from Port Elizabeth, together with the charismatic PJ Twins from the Mother City, making up the five-some with Burger and Joubert.

This year, all four of the show’s esteemed coaches were well represented by these incredible talent in the finale. Riky Rick was counting on Eon, LIRA, the PJ Twins, while Francois van Coke coached Tasché throughout the season. Coach Riana Nel was the only coach with two talent on stage – Soné and Siki Jo-An.  At the end, it was SA’s Afrikaans rebel, Van Coke, coaching the Winning Voice.

While the live audience waited for the results, some legendary and well-loved local vocalists were included in the line-up to perform during this live television broadcast, which included duets with each of the Top 5. For the first time in her illustrious career, Afrikaans music legend Laurika Rauch appeared on stage during a live television singing contest, breathing life into her iconic song, Stuur Groete aan Mannetjies Roux, a duet with runner-up, Soné.

South Africa’s Queen of Afro-jazz, Judith Sephuma, joined 3^rd place-winner Siki  Jo-An, with an apt song for two big voices, I’m Every Woman by Chaka Khan.  Season 2’s Caroline-Grace Brüssow and Eon raised the roof with Elton John’s Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me. Singer extraordinaire Timothy Moloi and The PJ Twins went for gold with Luther Vandross’ Impossible Dream, while not known as the winner yet, Tasché and her coach, Francois van Coke, blended their voices in their version of Toe Vind Ek Jou, a song by van Coke himself, recorded with Season 1 and 2 Coach. Karen Zoid.

Anticipating fans, as well as nervous talent back stage, were also entertained during the wait, by some goose-bump-inducing solos Jo Black and Roan Ash, who are currently both dominating the South African music scene.

Taché Buger, winner of the Voice SA 3rd Season, was determined by the voting public, after close to 10 million votes were received throughout this season.  M-Net’s Kaye Ann Williams told the media after the finale, that the voting process during such a talent contest, is a very important element of the show, as the margins between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, were extremely tight.  “Tasché was a serious contender and front-runner throughout the voting phase of the competition,” she added.

Tasché, would have drove off with a brand new Toyota RAV4, but because she admitted to not having a valid driver’s licence yet, will have to get someone else to do this for her. “I will get my license very soon”, she joked while accepting the car keys.  Besides new wheels, and the very deserved Recording Contract with Universal Music SA, Tasché walks away from this competition with a Telkom tech bundle with a Huawei P30 Pro, a Tab M5 Lite, a router, and a Huawei Watch GT, Telkom data, and an Anti-Theft Backpack, Truworths clothing vouchers to the value of R100 000 and the title of The Voice South Africa.

Sy vrou, Tessa, en twee tienerkinders keer saam met hom terug, maar het elkeen ’n stryd van hul eie:

Belinda Swanepoel, ’n eertydse Afrikaanse aktrise, is meer voor haar spieëltjie as voor haar kasregister en Annetjie Nel, ’n militaristiese en konserwatiewe bakster, bemoei haar meer met die winkel se sake as met die koek van die dag. Dan is daar die arme, sjarmante boereheld Frans Wessels, wat die vrede tussen Annetjie en Belinda probeer bewaar, maar selde daarin slaag.

Die reeks skop af met ’n nuwe aanstelling, die jong bleeksiel Dirkie, wat skielik hoof van sekuriteit word. Dan kom steek Maggie, Ian se vrou, ook nog haar neus in haar man se sake. Saam moet hulle die uitdagings van die ouderdom die hoof bied, maar leer ook dat die lewe vol tweede kanse is en dat ’n mens nooit te oud is om pret te hê nie.

Vakansiegangers wat ’n Kersvakansie op die Tuinroete beplan, kan vir die derde agtereenvolgende jaar uitsien na die beste musiek en vermaak op een verhoog, en kan nou reeds plekke bespreek om teleurstelling te voorkom!

Kaartjies vir dié vertonings op 27 en 28 Desember 2019 by die ATKV Amfiteater Hartenbos is nou beskikbaar vir diegene wat vinnig wil spring en gebruik wil maak van die spesiale vroeëbesprekingsaanbod op www.itickets.co.za.

With the 3rd Season of M-Net’s The Voice South Africa currently being broadcast on DSTv’s channel 101’s most Successful Slot on Sundays, the deserving Talent of our Country, is slowly but singingly filling up the available spots in their chosen Coach’s teams.

Audiences all across M-Net’s satellite reach, have already familiarized themselves with the new faces in this Season, with Anele Mdoda as the new Host, Francois van Coke, Riana Nel and Riky Rick joining the only returning cast member, Lira, to complete the foursome Coaching Panel.

Real fans of The Voice South Africa, who might not be as oblivious as the rest of us, would have noticed by now, that the Producers of this season, did not replace the role and functions of Stacey Norman, who was always busy behind the scenes with some quirky interview for the Voice SA’s Social media pages.

To contribute to these socially nice-to-watch behind the scenes videos, M-Net has decided to put the The Voice microphone in the hands of some of Jozi’s Online and Social Media Influencers.  It was an honor for Stage and Screen to have been invited by M-Net’s Lani Lombard and her team to conduct a few of these Post-Blind Profiles for this reality series’ social links, and also M-Net’s Website.

After some episodes of The Voice came, and left quietly into the 19:00 timeslot of Carte Blanche, Coach Francois van Coke really battled to get the Talent he turned for, to choose the Coke Squad.  However, The fizz was back in #TeamVanCoke when a self-confessed rebel at heart, impressed Coach Riky and Coach Francois with the Sound of her Voice, not the Sound of Silence…

40 Year old Chezelle Shahadat, chose to continue her The Voice journey under the mentorship of the Rebel Coach on the panel… This is how she broke the sound of the studio’s silence, when she shared her excitement with us:

During the 5th episode of this season, #TeamVanCoke grew to seven talent, with Ashur Peterson and Mia Malherbe joining his cartel.

It was also Mia’s 26th birthday on the night of these Blind Auditions that saw her progressing in this competition, and even though This is a Man’s World, it was clearly a Woman’s Stage with Riky, Riana and Francois turning their chairs. During episode 7 of this season, all of us joined in the excitement of the four coaches, when 25 year old Skhumbuzo did the unexpected by singing a song by Valiant Swart, translated into Zulu.  Coach Francois, a friend of Swart, got Swart on the line, sharing this young man’s entry into #TeamRiky, with this composer on National TV.  We talk to this Sonvanger after his audition.

Episode 7 ended with the successful attempt of the PJ Twins, successfully making their double-entry into #TeamLira.  Not just did they do their formal audition with I Swear, but also an impromptu operatic duet, on request by their Coach.  This set of Twins, shared some of their plans for this competition with us:

Then came the last episode of the Blind Auditions, and Lira broke the rules, forcing the Executive Producers to give each coach an extra Talent for their team.  Second to last on the night, with two spots on two teams respectively still up for grabs, Elisha James came on, and with Cry me a River, Riana turned for this crazy youngster, and in our chat, we told him he is crazy in his face…

Then the end was in sight, One Talent still back stage, with only Coach Riky with a spot on his team left, and with this last contestant inevitable to get a spot, her talent took nothing away from her deserved spot on #TeamRiky, when she made him turn his chair, promising her a You and I Journey.  We chatted to Nikita Williams, to close of this season’s Blind…

Ampie du Preez het geen bekendstelling nodig nie. Dié begaafde sanger, liedjieskrywer en deesdae ook finansiële-beplanner spog met treffers soos Plain Jane en Niks en Niemand wat aan hom ’n SAMA-nominasie besorg het. Nou is die sanger terug met ’n nuwe enkelsnit vir diegene wat met ’n liefdesteleurstelling worstel.

Val Sonder Jou, wat Ampie self geskryf het, gaan oor verlore liefde waar die een persoon aangaan en die ander persoon nog nie oor die persoon is wat weg is. Volgens Ampie sal meeste mense met die enkelsnit kan vereenselwig en glo dat wanneer ’n liedjie uit jou hart kom, dat die publiek dit sal opmerk, veral as hul met dieselfde situasie sit.

Die Musiekvideo vir dié liedjie is vervaardig deur Sean Else en speel af in ’n ou verlate psigiatriese hospitaal in Johannesburg.

Ampie, wat sy stem as tydloos opsom, sing reeds sy lewe lank en vanjaar is sy dertiende jaar in die musiekbedryf. Hy is ook ’n kranige gholfspeler, partytjie geesdriftige en studeer steeds.

Ampie vertel dat hy musiek skryf oor dit wat op daardie oomblik in sy lewe gebeur. Hy skryf maar meestal oor ware gebeurtenisse, en sal ook graag saam kunstenaars soos Die Heuwels Fantasties, Francois van Coke of selfs Dewald Wasserfall wil werk en skryf. Ampie is mal oor country en iemand soos Keith Urban is ’n groot inspirasie.

Ampie sonder die dag toe hy op Joost van der Westhuizen se roudiens, een van sy gunsteling liedjies gesing het, as een van sy loopbaan hoogtepunte uit.

Die grootste les wat die sanger oor die dertienjaar geleer het is dat die lewe onregverdig is en dat die bestes nie altyd vinnig bo uit kom nie. Sy pa se dood was ook ’n onverwagse vuishou.

Tussen musiek maak en skryf doen Ampie ook finansiële-beplanning en aanhangers kan dalk binnekort ook uitsien na nuwe musiek.

M-Net recently revealed that radio and TV star Anele Mdoda had been signed as the new host of The Voice South Africa. But she is not the only larger-than-life personality who will soon be setting the brand-new stage at Urban Brew studios alight in the 3rd season of this popular talent search.

Multi-talented rapper and record producer Riky Rick is ready to bring some swag to The Voice South Africa Season 3 as one of the show’s four expert coaches.

With his millions of social media followers, unique blend of music styles, off–beat view of the world and wacky sense of fashion, Riky is the centre of attention wherever he goes.

This flashy trendsetter knows first-hand how hard it can be to make it big in the music industry, and he is keen to share his know-how with the talent on The Voice, adding that they are super excited to see him in action on the show’s iconic red chairs.

Born as Rikado Makhado in KwaMashu, a township north of Durban, Riky made his way to Johannesburg to pursue a career in film, but ended up teaching himself how to produce music as part of a school project. While he may now be a fashionista deluxe, with an impressive list of music success stories, he struggled to build up a following… until he started fusing South African hip–hop with kwaito!

His 2014 single, Boss Zonke, became one of the biggest hits of the year.  Soon after that he released his platinum-selling debut album, Family Values, won an MTV Award among many other accolades. Then followed his fashion-and-sapper-inspired 2016 anthem Sidlukotini, the Best Hit Single of 2017.

While the music world follows Riky’s every move, the man himself regards it as an honour to be a coach on The Voice South Africa. Riky mentions that his whole family watches the show and it’s so cool to be part of it now. “If the talent at the Blind Auditions know what’s good for them, they’ll pick ME as their coach! I’ll give them that extra edge in presentation, execution and confidence, and make sure their voices are heard!” he said before the recordings.

There’s some serious competition coming your way from another new coach in the third season of M-Net’s The Voice South Africa.

One of strongest female voices and most successful songwriters in the South African music industry, Christian and pop music star Riana Nel, took a seat in one of The Voice SA’s famous red chairs when the cameras rolled for Season 3’s pre-recorded Blind Auditions late last year.

Riana’s impressive resumé includes a long list of chart-topping songs, hit albums and awards. It all started in 2001 with her first Christian album Oopmond, which was honoured in two categories at the Lier Awards: Best New Artist and Best Female Vocalist. In the same year she won the Geraas Awards for Best Gospel Artist and Best New Artist. But it was her first pop album Die Moeite Werd from 2012 and more recently, 2014’s Die Regte Tyd, that truly turned her into a music awards darling.

M-Net acknowledged in a statement, that they are blessed and excited to have Riana on the panel of coaches for Season 3. Even though Riana is sweet, down-to-earth and friendly, but don’t underestimate her competitive spirit, commitment and conscientiousness. She did an excellent job as Lira’s co-coach in Season 2 and is bound to give Season 3’s rival coaches a run for their money.

Before the Blind Auditions, Riana was planning on turning around for vocalists with an authentic, on-key, sound. She admitted before the Blinds, that she was ready to be blown away and to be the cheerleader for people who really can make singing their career, adding that she is looking for that goose-bump-inducing kind of voice that makes you want to cry, laugh or just get up off your chair and then shout ‘yasss‘!

Why should the talent pick her when more than one coach wants them in their team? Riana mentions that she is a vocal and song writing teacher, having worked with one of the biggest labels in the country. That’s what it will take to be a winning coach on The Voice SA.

Riana is also no stranger to collaborations, for instance, she recorded Eens in ’n Leeftyd for Bobby van Jaarsveld and Doen Net Wat Ons Wil, a recent collaboration with Die Heuwels Fantasties. She has also written songs for Juanita Du Plessis, Lianie May, Touch of Class and world-renowned Amira Willighage, among others.

Her 2015 SAMA Awards include one for best Afrikaans pop album and the big one of the night: best-selling artist of the year.
