There are songs that are put together in a day and then there are those that take time. Army, the new single from electronic artist SEVVEN, is one such song. Years in the making, Army was conceptualized in 2016 and has evolved immensely over the years.

“This song has gone through about four different versions,” SEVVEN says. “I don’t think people understand how strange it can be to make music, and how it can sometimes be an incredibly long, confusing process. I wouldn’t trade it for anything and loved every minute of making Army.”

The South African musician and producer always knew there was something special about the song, but didn’t want to release it until it was “just right.” Having undergone several incarnations, and finally teaming up with co-producer Me-Ko, SEVVEN is finally satisfied with the end product and wants to showcase it to the world.

A slightly elevated, more electronic sound than fans are used to, SEVVEN is slowly shifting into a new sonic era.

The song speaks of lovers who are up against the disapproval and scrutiny of the world – their love has them facing an army. Looking to each for solace, the only option is to ride or die.

“I think we’ve all had a relationship that didn’t have the approval of other significant people in our lives,” SEVVEN explains. “Army is about this dynamic and how that can feel as if it’s just you and your partner up against an Army.”

Army is SEVVEN’s first release since his self-titled debut album and is only the beginning of a string of progressive musical works, ready to make its mark on the world.
