Caroline Borole – The Lead

The lead role of Tuner Turner is played by South African born Caroline Borole. She was handpicked by Showtime Australia director, Johnny Van Grinsven to take this powerful role to stage. For Caroline Borole, music has been a major influence in her life. The South African-born songstress credits her family for saturating her childhood with various genres and artists, many of which helped shape Caroline’s own personal musical style.

After her three years at University, Caroline ventured into the entertainment industry, landing notable roles on television shows and musical productions, including appearances in Generations, On the Couch, Under African Skies and a starring role as Effie White in the South African national production of the musical Dream Girls. Eventually, Caroline found her way of becoming a member of Showtime Australia. She began touring as a backup singer for two of the company’s largest productions, The Greatest Love of All: Whitney Houston Show & the Michael Jackson HIStory show. Discovering Showtime Australia was bringing in a new show, Tina – Simply The Best, Caroline knew it was her chance to take the spotlight.

With hours of study and repetition of the Tina – Simply The Best set list, Caroline used her bold personality and knowledge of various music genres to conquer Tina’s iconic growls, grunts and raspy vocals. As well as this, Caroline became acquainted with the highly intense dancing Turner performed on stage for her audiences. Borole explained that although a challenge at first, her passion is performing, and she will happily endure the painful workout to leave her heart on stage for the audiences of Tina: Simply The Best.

Tina: Simply The Best is proudly brought to you by Showtime Australia in association with Roodepoort Theatre.

The group consists of 60+ children between 10 and 18 and a few younger siblings. Annie JR is their 9th musical production since inception, and is coming to the Roodepoort theatre for seven shows only.

This year, the experienced team of actors and actresses bring the story of Annie, an extraordinary little orphan, to life. Unlike the other orphans in Miss Hannigan’s depression-era orphanage, Annie believes that her parents are still alive and will someday return to take her home. So, when Mr Warbucks, the most powerful man in America, offers to adopt her, she asks him to help her find her parents instead. Warbucks’ reward for information on Annie’s family attracts the attention of some con artists who hatch a plot to kidnap Annie to get the reward. Follow her story to its final happy conclusion for both Annie and Daddy Warbucks.

Annie JR features many of the same songs as the movie version including Easy Street, Tomorrow, NYC, and Hard Knock Life. The cast of characters are all experienced, many having been in previous Drama Buzz productions over the past 9 years.

Tickets are R85 per person, discount available on weekday morning shows @ R65 per ticket if 10 or more seats are booked together. Book all tickets online, the discount will be applied on 10+ seats on weekdays at checkout.

Join us for an enjoyable outing to the Roodepoort Theatre with its safe, off-street parking, on-site restaurant and snack bar. You won’t be disappointed!
