Following the sweetest debut last year, The Scoop Shop will return to the Strelitzia Court from 1 to 6 April 2026, inviting families to step into a whimsical, ice cream-inspired world filled with sweet treats and playful Easter activities. The activation will run daily from 10 am to 6 pm.

At the heart of The Scoop Shop sits a charming café-style house, which will be transformed into a welcoming café experience called Scooped with Woolworths. The creative crafts corner will keep little hands busy, while a Bounce-inspired hopscotch zone will be add some hopping fun. There will also be an egg catch challenge that is sure to get pulses racing.

Introducing the City of Enchantment

From 5 to 28 December, the City of Enchantment will open its doors to visitors who can step into a festive world shaped by imagination and creative wonder, with numerous interactive activities for those who would like to enjoy this holiday to the fullest.

Children can roll up their sleeves at the “Sprinkle & Sugar” station, where giant cookies shaped as gingerbread figures, teddy bears, baubles and trees are ready for decorating. The “Donut & Dazzle” spot will bring the joy of a Krispy Kreme DIY kit, where each doughnut can be transformed into something personal. The creative corners at “Trees & Twinkle” and “Baubles & Bliss” will invite kids to personalise baubles, decorate festive trees and make their own boxes that the trees will go into, to add to their holiday displays at home.

At “Words & Wishes”, children can write letters to Santa before meeting him for a photograph in a setting filled with soft, seasonal light. Along the way, families will also discover sweet touches, including Santa’s wishing well, a drawbridge that leads them into his world and a charming reindeer merry-go-round.

Adults who need a quiet pause can visit the Château Gâteaux pop-up, where hot and cold drinks will be available, along with indulgent slices of cake. Whole cakes can also be purchased to take home, making festive gatherings with loved ones a little sweeter.

A selection of these messages, drawn from hundreds of submissions, has now been woven into a powerful original song, also titled Words That Heal, featuring the voice of Riky Rick. The hip hop song celebrates resilience and reminds listeners that no one is alone in their journey.

Now available online and on YouTube, the track reflects the campaign’s core message: that words have the power to connect, comfort, and inspire. Every person can play a part in turning awareness into action, making mental health a national conversation that continues beyond the month of October.

From now until Sunday, 9 November, shoppers can step into the Words That Heal experiential pop-up activation, situated on the upper level next to BOSS in Sandton City. The Riky Rick Foundation was established to honour the life of the late rapper and to promote “artivism,” the intersection of artistic expression and activism. Through its work, the Foundation advocates for mental wellness, creativity and social awareness, particularly among South Africa’s youth.

A Platform for Healing Through Words

Mental health continues to affect many South Africans, especially young people, with over 60% of the youth in South Africa reporting challenges in this area. Through “Words That Heal”, Sandton City aims to create a space where individuals can offer support to others by sharing personal messages of encouragement to anyone struggling mentally.

To participate, members of the public can submit a voice note via WhatsApp 063 980 5816 to help uplift someone who needs it.  Messages received before 8 August 2025 will be considered for inclusion in a curated song of hope that will be released on streaming platforms later this year in an effort to raise funds to provide free therapy for the youth, driven through the Riky Rick Foundation.

Phase Two to Launch During Mental Health Month

Next, during September and October, the second phase of the initiative will take the project into a more immersive space. Shoppers at Sandton City will be encouraged to listen to the song that was created or to listen to Riky Rick’s final album as a tribute to his life and legacy.

Here, a pop-up retail space will open in the centre, featuring limited-edition merchandise with the option to personalise items on site in collaboration with artist Samurai Farai. All proceeds from merchandise sales and supporting pledges from corporate partners will go to the Riky Rick Foundation to continue their work in creating safe spaces for youth and promoting creative expression as a tool for healing. The most magical time of the year is upon us and this Festive Season, Sandton City is proud to present the return of a wonderfully whimsical theatrical adventure with The Nutcracker’s Winter Circus.  Bigger, better and back for another spectacular season, this year’s adventure includes creative master puppetry, set to bring a host of fun and fantastical characters to life, with the Parade of the Animals, adding a captivating new dimension to the show.

Exclusive to Sandton City and enchanting children and adults alike, the mysterious and magical Nutcracker’s Winter Circus: Parade of the Animals, is a fairy tale fit for the whole family, set in an extravagant circus tent in the Centre Court, for this upcoming holidays.

Following the applauded success of the debut season in 2018, The Nutcracker’s Winter Circus, achieved a Naledi Theatre Award nomination, a formidable first for a shopping centre. It also won a Gold & Spectrum Award in the 2019 South African Council of Shopping Centres’ Marketing Footprint Awards. The unprecedented popularity of the show amongst local and international families led to the anticipated return season in 2019. With over 22 000 patrons enjoying the exclusive world first last year, the introduction of the Parade of the Animals this year is set to raise the creative bar and capture the spirit of Christmas in the city, with a rich tapestry of magic, puppetry and interactive illusion. The Parade of the Animals will not feature any live animals, but rather showcase the wonderful world of animals through theatrical performances by the show’s acclaimed actors.

The Nutcracker’s Winter Circus Parade of the Animals combines the highly talented production team of Producer Lyall Ramsden, Director and Designer Andrew Botha as well as acclaimed Choreographer and Creative David Gouldie, who together have created this 30-minute immersive spectacular that will continue to engage, excite and entertain audiences in 2019.

Venue: Sandton City Centre Court

There are four performances daily at 10h30, 12h30, 15h30 and 17h30, seven days a week, (excl. Christmas Day, Day of Goodwill and New Year’s Day).

Tickets are available from Ticketpro, at a cost R20 online (with no charge for children under three years) or by visiting selected Edgars, CNA, Jet, POSTNET stores.

Tickets are also available at the door for a R30 fee.

Sandton City is passionate about Christmas with a cause, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Sandton SPCA.
