Legendary comedian, Tracy Morgan, has announced his 2020 No Disrespect world tour which includes three back-to-back shows around South Africa – Cape Town on the 29^th May; Durban on the 30^th May and Pretoria on the 31^st May.

Tracy Morgan is best known for his appearances on Saturday Night Live and his role as Tracy Morgan in seven seasons of NBC’s Emmy- and Golden Globe award-winning, 30 Rock, opposite Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.  His film credits include Paramount’s rom-com film, What Men Want with Taraji P. Henson and The Longest Yard opposite Adam Sandler and he has also lent his voice to hit animations Rio, Rio 2 and the Oscar-nominated, Boxtrolls.   Across his career, he has had stand-up specials on Netflix, HBO and Comedy Central and has headlined comedy tours and festivals around the world.

Morgan can currently be seen in the second season of TBS’ The Last OG, which has recently been renewed for a third season.  He can next be heard voicing the role of Fox in Netflix’s Green Eggs & Ham, as well as Caption Caveman in the upcoming 2020 feature, Scoob.

Few artists can lay claim to international success spanning three decades, but Chris De Burgh has achieved precisely that. The legendary artist will be performing two shows in South Africa in support of his new album, “A Better World”.

‘Spanish Train and Other Stories’ was Chris’ first major hit in SA and the first single ‘Just Another Poor Boy’ from this album was No.1 for many weeks.  By the time he released ‘Man On The Line’ in 1981, Chris was a well-established global star and the single from this album ‘High On Emotion’ became a No.1 record right across the globe. 1986 saw the release of ‘Into The Light,’ Chris’ most successful record up to that point, which sold in excess of 10 million copies worldwide. It also featured the single ‘Lady In Red’, which was no.1 in 50 countries and is still one of the most played songs on the planet.

By 1990 Chris’ popularity was such that he was the only international artist to personally receive an invitation from then-Chancellor Kohl to perform at the historic public celebrations marking the reunification of East and West Germany. Chris continually seeks new challenges for himself as a musician and in with his 1995 album, ‘Beautiful Dreams,’ he realised a lifelong ambition to have his music recorded in a classical style with a full thirty-two piece orchestra.

Always in tune with global and political issues, Chris de Burgh provides much food for thought in the lyrical content of his new album ‘ A Better World’. Carlos Santana, who first became famous in the late 1960s with his band Santana, pioneered a fusion of rock and Latin American music. His first Top 10 hit ‘Evil Ways’ stayed on the Billboard chart for two years and was soon followed by two more classics and Billboard number one albums ‘Abraxas’ (“Oye Como Va”, “Black Magic Woman”) and Santana III (“No One to Depend On”, “Everybody’s Everything”). Jak de Priester het, ter viering van sy vol en suksesvolle loopbaan, onlangs ’n splinternuwe album, 15 Jaar, uitgereik.

Een van die liedjies op hierdie album is Halleluja Kersfees en dit is die ideale lied om jou in die romantiese atmosfeer van Kerstyd te plaas.

Die liedjie is geskryf deur Jak self en is vir hom, op ’n manier, ’n “road trip” deur die Karoo oppad Kaap toe. “Die liedjie gaan oor herinneringe van kersboomversierings maak met skulpe uit Melkbos se strand, om te dans in Kalkbaai en om soos toeriste te voel by die Waterfront. Dít is my romantiese herinneringe van Kerstyd in die Kaap”, sê Jak.

Jak begin ook hierdie jaar, in samewerking met Die Blou Hond teater en Caring Daisies ’n opwindende nuwe inisiatief, genaamd “Geel jou hart vir liefde”. Dit is ’n reeks van ses eksklusiewe konserte wat gedurende 12-17 Desember by Die Blou Hond sal plaasvind. Jak de Priester is die kunstenaar en sal ’n eksklusiewe vertoning hou, wat slegs by Die Blou Hond gesien kan word. Hierdie jaar sluit dit in, uittreksels oor sy 15 jaar loopbaan met o.a ’n lied of twee uit sy 2008 De Priester en een Kerkorrel-konsert, sowel as treffers van hom, komedie, ’n kerslied of twee en nog vele meer. Die doel van hierdie konserte is om ’n jaarlikse instelling te skep en op die manier sonskyn in die lewe van mense en diere te bring. Dit is ’n week van liefdadigheid. “Hierdie jaar is diere ons missie en ons samel dierekos in vir die honderde honde en katte wat oorgelaat is aan die genade van die mensdom”, sê Jak.

Dus, in die maand van Desember gaan Die Blou Hond… GEEL! Met ’n geel kersboom en ’n geel vertoning beloof dit om 2017 op die regte wyse af te sluit en almal in ’n lekker stemming vir die vakansie en Kersfees te plaas.

Jak sê verder dat hulle hierdie initiatief graag ’n jaarlikse instelling wil maak, maar dat hulle die ondersteuning van die publiek nodig het. “Daar is ses aande, 170 stoele per aand… ons wil die publiek uitnooi, maar ook besighede, om ’n tafel te bespreek, selfs twee! A few nights ago, I conducted a successful test switch-on of the festive lights on Adderley Street, as we prepare to usher in the holiday season.

I was joined by top Cape Town talents, DJ Ready D, Heavenly Quartez, and members of The Rockets (who are celebrating their 50th anniversary).

These artists form part of an exciting line-up of entertainers set to wow Capetonians next month at the Cape’s biggest, free open-air event.

Each year thousands of Capetonians and visitors enjoy the celebration. This event is indeed a key example of how we are building an inclusive city as we come together to enjoy safe fun and the best in local entertainment.

The performers set to take the stage at the annual City of Cape Town festive lights switch-on from 16:00 on Sunday, 3 December 2017 include:

Newly-formed alt rockers The Sweet Resistance have been confirmed to open for +LIVE+ in South Africa in November.

2017 will mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album Mental Jewellery (released December 31, 1991). The multi-platinum band from Pennsylvania have sold over 22 million albums worldwide and earned two number one albums (Throwing Copper, Secret Samadhi). Their catalogue is filled with such gems as “Lightning Crashes,” “I Alone,” “All Over You,” and “Lakini’s Juice,” which live on today as classics at rock radio.

The original line-up of +LIVE+ performed their last show in July 2009 before going off in different directions. Rediscovering their friendship has healed old differences, setting the stage for the four members to come together to make music again.
