Little Glass Girl, the debut EP by neo-soul musician Lily Hollows, is more than just a collection of songs. It is the summation of 19 years of existence in a fallen world, exploring the notions of self-value, independence, infatuation and frailty. Using stark contrasts – challenging lyrics and serene melodies, Lily delves into what it means to be human.

She compiled this album as an exploration of our humanity. She explains she wanted to tackle issues we often face as a collective, without realizing that we face them. We often overlook the frailty of our emotional state and how easily our feelings are influenced by others.

The concept behind Little Glass Girl is based on the tendency to try and keep others happy, at the expense of our own personal happiness. Lily speaks about a girl who turned herself into something considered universally attractive (in this instance, glass), in an attempt to catch someone’s eye, however, she soon realizes that glass is fragile and the very thing that made her different, was her greatest strength.

Recording at The Hit Lab with producer Neil Engel, the five-track EP is an assertive first offering from a budding new artist. It follows the release of two successful singles Daddy I’m Gone and Don’t Look Back, both of which achieved national airplay across South African radio stations.

Lily says the EP is a culmination of years of reflection and song writing and that she is excited to finally share it with the world.

The Gracepoint worship team have, through their 14 years of the church’s existence, had the honour of performing and sharing a variety of distinguished gospel songs with their congregation.   The team recently released their very own EP, comprising of original music. With a strong message of reverence and love, Gracepoint Worship Music hopes to inspire people all over the world.

The seven- track EP, Love Is Calling, is an overflow of the life of the local church, brought about by their unique journey with God and each other. Featuring contemporary hit makers Simphiwe Kulla (of The Muffinz fame) and Connell Cruise, the EP was composed by various members of the team and produced by Simphiwe and Howie Combrink at The Hit Lab.

“We hope that these worship songs will become a part of people’s lives… whether it’s during a church service, or some inspiration while people are just living their everyday lives,” says Gracepoint worship leader, Greg Jorden.

Music is not only an art form but a powerful means of self-expression and it plays an important role in the functioning of the church. Gracepoint aims to provide a safe place for people to experience the grace of God and in many ways music has aided them in this mission.

While the songs are the product of several years of ministry, the EP was only conceptualised, produced and recorded within a month.

Greg adds, “Just the thought of recording original worship music was exciting for us! The songs capture our unique expression of worship and enable us to share it with people. Moreover, they will also serve as a ‘time machine’ for us as a church to travel back and remember this season in our lives.”

The collection serves as a reflection of the church and their team, a myriad of their different influences, styles, personalities and most importantly, their love for God and people.

Love Is Calling will be available on all major digital platforms, with physical copies on offer at the church reception.

Greg concludes, “In every age, there is great need to help each other live with meaning and purpose. Personally, I find my answers when I let go and just worship God. And when there aren’t any answers, there’s peace to embrace. May we never tire in helping each other.”

Gracepoint started out as a Lonehill Methodist Church in 2004. A church plant that originated through Bryanston Methodist Church. In 2012 they launched their satellite campus in Paulshof, Phelang Ka Mohau Campus and a new and different kind of campus is set to open soon in the Leeuwkop Prison for inmates and wardens.

Gracepoint has grown from a handful of members to a vibrant church community in excess of 1800 members of various ages.
