Stage and Screen has been a trusted voice in South Africa’s arts and entertainment landscape since its inception in June 2006. What began as a spontaneous idea during a live broadcast of Idols op kykNet quickly evolved into a passionate platform dedicated to supporting local theatre, live shows, and reality television.
Founded by Louw Mulder, Stage and Screen emanated from the vision to become a central hub for the latest news, interviews, and features on productions, performers, and creators across Gauteng’s vibrant entertainment scene. Although Louw eventually pursued a career in Human Resource Management, his unwavering love for the arts and storytelling kept him actively involved as the site’s editor and freelance journalist, covering productions and live events around the country.
Under Louw’s guidance, Stage and Screen grew into a respected platform trusted by major industry players. The site proudly became an early supporter of MNet’s popular reality series, such as Idols, Survivor, and MasterChef South Africa, solidifying its place in the country’s entertainment media space.
As the years progressed, Stage and Screen expanded its scope beyond theatre and television to include movies, live music performances, and international productions — a natural evolution reflecting the vibrant South African entertainment scene.
Following a personal hiatus and relocating abroad, Louw entrusted his beloved platform to a new custodian. Enter Jenny Griesel — a well-respected name in South African media and public relations, known for her extensive experience and longstanding commitment to the entertainment and media industry. Jenny now leads Stage and Screen into its next chapter, honouring its rich history while bringing fresh energy and perspective to the platform.
Frederic Egersdorfer, the founder of Harmony Media Group and editor of several successful websites, including Underground Press, and head of content for Alt News Network, has joined the team to manage and maintain the Stage and Screen website. Frederic oversees the content management and coverage of all new productions, releases, and features. With a career spanning over two decades in digital media, music journalism, and web development, Frederic’s creative edge and technical expertise are set to enhance Stage and Screen’s online presence and reader experience.
Together, Jenny and Frederic aim to continue Louw’s legacy while expanding Stage and Screen’s reach across theatre, film, television, and live entertainment coverage. Fans and followers can be assured that Stage and Screen is here to stay.
