The View introduces a different way to experience Fourways Mall, with an emphasis on beautiful surroundings, quality experiences and aspirational places where people can spend time together. From early morning coffee and leisurely lunches to Pilates sessions, pampering, sundowners and dinner with friends, the destination has been designed to become part of everyday life in Fourways, while offering an experience worth travelling for.

Located on the corner of Cedar and Witkoppen Roads, the R100 million development forms part of the successful transformation of Fourways Mall, which is 50% owned by JSE-listed Accelerate Property Fund. The investment supports the broader strategy to strengthen the Mall’s position as a leading retail, entertainment and lifestyle destination. Connected to the mall’s expansive 182,000m² footprint, The View offers a new way to spend time in Fourways, whether for a morning coffee, lunch with friends, a wellness appointment or a luxurious evening out.

A Destination Designed Around the Experience

Contemporary architecture, clean lines, refined finishes and thoughtfully designed interiors create an inviting environment that encourages visitors to slow down and enjoy their surroundings. A three-level atrium brings light and openness into the development, while the combination of indoor and outdoor spaces encourages relaxed dining and socialising. Each restaurant and store brings its own character and design personality, contributing to a destination that feels cohesive without losing the individuality of its brands.

Dining is a particular highlight, with an impressive selection of restaurants and cafés catering to different occasions and tastes. The much-anticipated arrival of tashas brings its signature all-day dining experience to Fourways, with interiors inspired by the Aegean and a menu celebrating fresh ingredients and the pleasure of sharing good food.

Another standout addition is Pantry by Marble, one of Johannesburg’s most sought-after food and lifestyle concepts, bringing its distinctive high-end offering to Fourways for the first time.

Other dining options include Fournos, Nossa Casa, Nonnas Riviera, Banchan, George’s Grill and Clay Cafe, where visitors can combine a creative experience with a relaxed outing. Gelato Mania adds a sweet treat to the mix, while Food Lover’s Market and Liquor Lane bring premium food shopping and everyday convenience into the offering.

Beauty and wellness are equally important to The View’s appeal. Mangwanani offers an opportunity to unwind, while Glow Theory, Popsicle Nails, The Piercery and The Laser Beautique provide a range of beauty and personal care experiences. Loamari Pilates adds a fitness dimension, making it possible to combine a morning workout with breakfast, shopping or a coffee date.

Petworld XXL adds to the speciality retail selection, while further additions are already on the horizon. Rockets Man is expected to open later in 2026, bringing another dining and social experience to the destination, while Workshop17 will introduce a flexible working environment in January 2027.

Part of a Bigger Vision for Fourways Mall

According to Juan Palm, General Manager of Fourways Mall, the development was driven by a clear opportunity to introduce a more sophisticated offering to the area: “We recognised a growing demand in Fourways for an upmarket dining and lifestyle experience, and The View was developed specifically to meet that need,” said Juan. “Our vision was to bring together highly sought-after upscale brands in a beautifully designed setting, creating a destination where people can enjoy exceptional dining, wellness and leisure experiences. The quality of the environment and the mix of brands were central to achieving that vision.”

Juan added that the development was also about building stronger connections with the surrounding community: “Our hope is that The View becomes a natural part of life in Fourways, a place that local residents return to regularly, but which also attracts visitors from further afield. It adds another dimension to Fourways Mall and gives people even more reasons to visit.”

Convenience has also been carefully considered, with multiple access points, including direct access from Cedar Road, making The View easy to reach. Its connection to Fourways Mall allows visitors to move between the new destination and the centre’s wider shopping and entertainment offering.

For regular updates on Fourways Mall, trading hours, and its stores, visit fourwaysmall.com or follow the centre on Instagram.

Pretoria, 15 October 2026 — One of Pretoria East’s best-known shopping destinations is preparing for its boldest transformation in decades. Construction has begun this month on the ambitious redevelopment that will see the Faerie Glen Shopping Centre evolve into The New Quarter, a bigger, brighter, reimagined new neighbourhood lifestyle destination, designed around the way the community lives, shops and connects.

With the centre positioned alongside two streams, the redevelopment has also been carefully designed to settle naturally into its surroundings, reflecting the community’s strong connection to the environment and creating a considered relationship between the built and natural landscape. The new design incorporates a modern architectural perspective and will be built to last.

Expected to open in November 2027, the redevelopment into The New Quarter represents a significant investment by Moolman Group, in partnership with Retail Evolution Fund, breathing new life into this established Pretoria East landmark and giving it fresh appeal for a new generation.

An architectural rendering of The New Quarter’s proposed interior, featuring modern retail spaces, pedestrian walkways and inviting seating areas.

A New Vision for a Familiar Destination

Located on the corner of Atterbury Road and Selikats Causeway, the centre’s Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarket has been an integral part of daily life in Pretoria East for decades, earning the trust of generations of shoppers through its value and convenience. The redevelopment builds on that legacy, creating a destination that will give even more reasons to visit.

Expanding by approximately 8,000m², the refreshed centre will feature a fully upgraded Pick n Pay Hypermarket alongside a brand-new 3,000m² Woolworths, Woolworths Café and Woolworths Edit. The expanded retail mix will introduce new fashion, health and beauty stores, essential services and everyday conveniences, while a lively restaurant node will create an inviting outdoor space where family and friends can gather over great food and entertainment.

Designed Around the Community

Construction will be phased to minimise disruption. Regular updates on construction milestones, new retailer announcements and behind-the-scenes progress will be shared via the centre’s social media platforms and community communication channels, ensuring shoppers remain informed throughout the journey.

“This redevelopment is about investing in the future of Pretoria East while recognising the important role that this beloved centre has played in the area for many years,” said a spokesperson. “The redevelopment has been intentionally planned to create a destination where convenience meets lifestyle, giving local families a place they will come to cherish.”

The centre’s evolution marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, ultimately creating a destination which the Pretoria East community can make their own.

Johannesburg, 7 October 2026: Cleaner parks, repaired potholes, better-maintained public spaces and new employment opportunities are some of the tangible changes being driven in Bedfordview with the support of local businesses. Bedford Shopping Centre is one of Better Bedfordview’s longstanding supporters, contributing R25 000 every month to help the nonprofit organisation continue its work in the suburb Bedford calls home.

Over the past four years, Better Bedfordview has repaired over 1,000 potholes, maintained roads, pavements, parks and greenery, restored neglected public spaces and created employment for 25 people. Bedford also regularly provides additional support for the organisation and the work it undertakes in the suburb.

“Bedfordview is our home too. Our shoppers, staff, businesses and neighbours use these roads and public spaces every day, so investing in the area around us is a natural extension of the role we want Bedford to play in the community,” says Linda Linnow, General Manager of Bedford. “Better Bedfordview has shown what consistent, practical action can achieve and we are proud to support that work every month.”

Investing in the Place Bedford Calls Home

That connection with the neighbourhood is also reflected in a new large-scale billboard erected by Bedford to celebrate Bedfordview following its recent centenary. Following Bedfordview’s recent centenary, the billboard is a celebration of the neighbourhood itself, reflecting Bedford’s love for the suburb and encouraging the wider community to take pride in the place they call home.

Through its partnership with Better Bedfordview, Bedford will continue supporting practical improvements that make a visible difference to the people who live, work, shop and spend time in the area.

For more information about Bedford, its stores and projects, visit Bedford’s website bedfordcentre.com or follow @bedfordcentre on social media for updates.

Grant Donson grew up surrounded by flowers, learning the business of floristry and developing his craft from the age of 14 in his hometown of Plettenberg Bay. After a few years spent learning from floral masters in Cape Town, he moved to Johannesburg, where he was employed by another florist and informally started running a part-time business in his spare time. Having started selling flower arrangements to time-starved executives at a pop-up shop outside a local gym, Donson was fueled by passion, and his can-do approach soon won the support of passers-by. In 2017, he took the giant leap of faith into full entrepreneurship and formally registered his business.

Shortly thereafter, he completed the WITS Business School Management Essentials course, and this is when the game changed. Donson sharpened his skill set, refining his business development strategy, business analysis, financial management, marketing and social media strategy, and more, and was able to take his business to the next level.

A little over two years ago, after being spotted by the centre management team, Donson seized the opportunity to open a fully-fledged florist in The Zone @ Rosebank. This move enabled the growing business to benefit from the area’s upmarket clientele and to enter its next growth stage. With a focus on staying at the forefront of floral trends, Donson set about establishing a spectacle of modern chic, exuding elegance and sophistication, in the popular centre.

Stepping through the entrance, visitors to Flowers by Grant Donson are enveloped in a sanctuary of floral splendor. The interior is adorned with sleek, contemporary décor. Soft, ambient lighting casts a warm glow on the array of vibrant blooms displayed throughout the space. Every corner of the floral boutique is meticulously curated, with each arrangement crafted to perfection. From luxurious bouquets of premium roses to exotic orchid arrangements, seasonal blooms, and couture creations, the selection exudes variety and artistry. The flower arrangements are breathtaking, and shoppers often stop in their tracks to marvel at the arrangements.

Flowers by Grant Donson’s client list has expanded tenfold and now includes big-corporate companies, regular event-planning partnerships, and impressive repeat business from influential individual clients. The florist has become a must-visit stop for regulars in the area, who love seeing the constantly evolving freshness and creativity and can’t resist the distinct offerings.

When asked about his journey, Grant Donson shares, “I have never looked back because I am doing what I love and on my own terms. It is food for my soul and my flamboyant floral creations! Constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity within the realm of my client needs, I would like to thank Old Mutual Property, which made the next step in my business journey of growth possible,” he added.

Officially launched last week, the dedicated My Sandton City Stop on Sandton Drive facility was introduced in response to increasing demand to streamline pick-ups and drop-offs, while helping reduce congestion around some of the centre’s busiest entrances. This stop complements the existing My Sandton City Stop on 5th Street, expanding the transport and mobility offering available to visitors.

Conveniently located on Level 3 below Clicks with direct access from Sandton Drive, the purpose-built space has introduced dedicated bays for e-hailing vehicles, helping to improve overall traffic flow during busy shopping periods.

Designed Around How Shoppers Move

The My Sandton City Stop on Sandton Drive facility provides a considered waiting experience for shoppers, including seating, charging stations and Wi-Fi connectivity in a structured and monitored environment, separate from the general parking areas.

To simplify collections, a digital wayfinding support screen displaying vehicle number plates and bay allocations has been introduced, making it easy for shoppers to quickly locate their ride.

Designed to accommodate high volumes during peak shopping periods and major events, the new facility forms part of Sandton City’s broader focus on improving accessibility and responding to the practical ways shoppers increasingly move through urban environments.

With an unmatched mix of retail with over 300 stores, entertainment and world-class lifestyle attractions, Sandton City continues to set the pace as Africa’s most iconic shopping centre.

Johannesburg, 26 May 2026: In the heart of Johannesburg’s northern suburbs, Melrose Arch continues to show strong commercial momentum, with renewed tenant confidence, strategic retail evolution and consistent hospitality demand reinforcing its position as one of the city’s most sought-after mixed-use precincts.

Perfectly located between Sandton and Rosebank with direct access to the M1 highway, Melrose Arch has long combined business, leisure and residential living within a carefully managed urban environment. Today, that integrated model is delivering measurable commercial success.

The precinct’s vacancy rate currently sits at 2.9 %, well below the broader Johannesburg market and the lowest level recorded since before the COVID-19 pandemic. The figure reflects sustained demand from businesses seeking a reliable and connected environment in which to thrive.

With uninterrupted power, dependable water systems and sustainability-driven infrastructure operating behind the scenes, Melrose Arch continues to provide operational certainty in a metropolitan city where utility disruptions are frequent. This stability and focus on sustainability are a powerful drawcard for both commercial tenants and investors.

Flexible Workspaces Respond to Modern Business Needs

The introduction of Arch Collab, Melrose Arch’s “hotel suite” office offering, has quickly gained traction among businesses seeking adaptable workspace solutions. This upmarket concept responds directly to evolving workplace patterns, allowing companies to operate within fully serviced office suites without the administrative burden traditionally associated with office management.

The precinct’s commercial buildings remain some of the most sought-after business addresses in Johannesburg. Properties such as 37 High Street and 39 Melrose Boulevard provide modern office environments supported by high-speed fibre connectivity, advanced building management systems and secure access control.

Across the precinct, renewed commercial leases, increased daily traffic and steady growth in annual turnovers point to strengthening tenant confidence across multiple sectors.

Retail Strategy and Hospitality Demand Drive Precinct Activity

Retail evolution also continues to shape the precinct’s commercial strength. Through the strategic repositioning of tenants and the introduction of new brands aligned to beauty, health, wellness and lifestyle, Melrose Arch has refined a retail mix that resonates with modern urban consumers while strengthening trading performance.

Recent upgrades to the Piazza and Square digital screens have further enhanced the precinct’s public spaces, with two new large-format LED installations. These 3D screens not only drive out-of-home advertising revenue but have also increased market appetite for lifestyle activations and large-scale sports screenings. With the upcoming FIFA Soccer World Cup on the horizon, Melrose Arch is already emerging as a popular destination for major fan match viewings in Johannesburg.

Retail strategy at Melrose Arch continues to evolve in response to changing shopper behaviour, with a deliberate move away from large-format spaces designed for single tenants towards a more curated mix of smaller, boutique stores. This shift is reflected in the current redevelopment of the Retail Galleria, which is being reimagined to accommodate a broader range of niche and specialised offerings. With direct access from Melrose Boulevard, the updated space will introduce a more accessible, street-facing retail experience that aligns with the precinct’s focus on convenience, variety and contemporary urban living. This approach also provides new opportunities for brands to engage with Melrose Arch.

The strong performance of the precinct’s hospitality cluster also plays an important role in sustaining footfall and commercial activity. With four hotels housing over 700 rooms, including the Johannesburg Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch, African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel, Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott Melrose Arch and the Marriott Executive Apartments, the precinct continues to attract both international business travelers and leisure guests. Consistently high occupancy levels contribute to retail spend and reinforce the energy that defines daily life within the precinct.

“Melrose Arch has always been built on the principle that strong infrastructure and thoughtful urban planning create the right conditions for businesses and communities to flourish,” says Natalie Stewart, Managing Director of Melrose Arch. “What we are seeing now is the result of that long-term vision, combined with operational excellency, delivered with consistency and care. The precinct continues to evolve in response to changing business needs while maintaining the reliability and quality that tenants value.”

As Johannesburg’s commercial landscape continues to shift, Melrose Arch remains a place where businesses can operate with confidence in an environment designed for stability, connectivity and sustained growth.

KwaZulu-Natal, 12 May 2026: Gateway Theatre of Shopping continues to make steady progress on its phased redevelopment, with the north node lifestyle zone now almost complete. The refurbishment forms part of Gateway’s broader objective to enhance shopper flow, improve convenience and respond to changing consumer habits through more intuitive, experience-led spaces.

Positioned as a concentrated hub for food, fashion and everyday essentials, the revitalised north node has been moulded to make longer visits and navigation easier, while strengthening Gateway’s role as a leading experiential retail destination in KwaZulu-Natal.

A Refreshed Space Built Around Convenience and Connection

The updated north node offers shoppers a clearer, more cohesive environment that brings together dining, grocery and lifestyle retail in one accessible area of the mall. The layout has been designed to feel open and contemporary, supporting natural movement between stores while creating a setting that invites shoppers to pause, meet and spend time.

A strengthened dining selection provides options for both casual meals and sit-down dining, while trend-led athleisure and footwear brands reflect the growing demand for comfort-driven, everyday fashion. The introduction of a new Checkers, opening in June, will add a major grocery anchor to the precinct, enhancing convenience and drawing regular footfall into the node alongside Dis-Chem.

Johannesburg, 2 March 2026: Excitement is mounting in northern KwaZulu-Natal as the highly-anticipated Prince Buthelezi Mall nears completion in Empangeni. Set to open at the end of April 2026, the plush new multi-million rand shopping destination promises to bring everyday convenience, a vibrant range of stores and inviting shared spaces to the Empangeni and Richards Bay community.

Shaped by 4 years of planning and 15 months of development, Prince Buthelezi Mall has been thoughtfully designed to make daily life easier and more enjoyable. From grocery shopping and fashion finds to relaxed dining and entertainment, the centre will house everything the people need in a beautiful, comfortable centre that is safe, secure and fully air-conditioned, right next to the R34 and R102 crossing.

“Prince Buthelezi Mall has been designed to be a truly distinctive destination, shaped by its surroundings and the needs of the local community. We believe it will play a meaningful role in enhancing everyday convenience and contributing positively to the quality of life for people living and working in the area,” shared Hermann Stassen, Head of Developments at Moolman Group.

A Place Built with the Community in Mind

Spanning approximately 37,000 square metres, the mall will showcase around 90 stores, including major chains, supermarkets, clothing stores, restaurants and a variety of speciality shops, many of which will be a first for Empangeni.

Accessibility has been a key focus from the start. The development includes plenty of parking and significant upgrades to surrounding roads and the nearby bridge. The developers have also worked closely with local taxi associations to make travelling between the CBD and the mall simple and convenient for shoppers, with a dedicated taxi rank on site as well. During construction, more than 2,000 people have already been employed, with many more jobs expected for local people once stores open their doors.

“We’re incredibly excited to be so close to opening Prince Buthelezi Mall. This development brings a sense of newness to Empangeni, introducing fresh retail brands and experiences that haven’t previously been available in the area, while creating a modern, welcoming space that reflects how people want to shop, dine and connect today,” shared Sonke Moolman Pautz, Retail Director at Moolman Group.

Designed For Comfort, Connection and Ease

Inspired by the lush green hills of the area, Prince Buthelezi Mall blends modern design with a soothing upmarket aesthetic. Inside, shoppers can look forward to comfortable communal seating areas, plenty of greenery, a large entertainment space featuring a big-screen viewing area, free Wi-Fi, ample bathrooms and a creative kids area where little shoppers can enjoy hours of play.

Clear layouts, well-planned free parking and strong security have been prioritised to ensure a relaxed shopping experience, whether visitors are popping in for a quick errand or spending time browsing, meeting friends or enjoying a meal.

As opening day approaches, the mall team has already begun connecting with the local community. School tours are underway, and behind the scenes, teams are working hard to prepare the centre and its stores for launch, creating a sense of anticipation and pride ahead of opening.

Prince Buthelezi Mall is set to become a cherished new presence in everyday life, a place where people can shop, dine and unwind with ease. For Empangeni, it represents greater choice, improved quality of life and a lush new destination designed to bring people together.

Pietermaritzburg, 27 January 2026: Midlands Mall has marked a remarkable moment in its journey with a series of new awards that highlight both industry recognition and strong community support this year. From receiving multiple South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) Footprint Awards to being voted the best mall in the Best of Pietermaritzburg and Midlands Readers’ Choice Awards, the centre management team are celebrating these achievements that reflect their long-term commitment to offering meaningful experiences for their shoppers and tenants alike.

National Recognition for Creative Excellence

At last year’s SACSC Footprint Awards, Midlands Mall received four accolades for campaigns that blended imagination with thoughtful engagement. The Festive Artspace earned a silver award in the visual merchandising category and two bronze awards in sales, promotions and events, as well as for digital marketing. The much-loved Shop. Play. Win campaign added a further bronze award in the sales, promotions and events category. Together, these awards highlight the centre’s ability to create experiences that both resonate with visitors through creativity and intention and deliver tangible results.

Community Support That Inspires Pride

In addition to industry acclaim, the mall was recently voted the best mall in the 2025 Best of Pietermaritzburg and Midlands Readers’ Choice Awards. Thousands of residents participated in the voting process, which recognised leading businesses across the region. The win carries special significance as it reflects the voices of the very community the centre serves daily.

Lawrence Joubert, General Manager at Midlands Mall, expressed gratitude for the recognition. “We are deeply proud of these awards because they speak to both our industry peers and the shoppers who visit us every day. Our team works with heart and purpose, and it is encouraging to see that reflected in the way our community and the SACSC have honoured us. These achievements motivate us to continue delivering experiences that feel warm, engaging and genuinely connected to the Midlands region.”

With both national and local recognition shaping this milestone, Midlands continues to strengthen its place as a trusted destination for retail and lifestyle experiences in the Pietermaritzburg area.

Fashion Forward Arrivals and Iconic Names

Luxury takes a confident step forward with the opening of Coach, one of only a handful of stores in Gauteng. Positioned opposite BOSS and Michael Kors, the beautifully designed boutique showcases the brand’s most recognisable pieces, from the Tabby and Rogue handbags to refined everyday accessories rooted in quality leather craftsmanship. Nearby, Kate Spade New York has made its South African debut with its first-ever store in the country. Known globally for crisp colour, graphic prints and playful sophistication, the opening marks an exciting opportunity for luxury fashion purveyors eager to experience the brand in person.

Emporio Armani has reopened in a new, more advanced space within the mall, drawing inspiration from the brand’s Milan flagship. One of only three in Gauteng, the refreshed store introduces a more immersive environment for its fashion, footwear and accessories. Lacoste has also raised the bar with the launch of its one-of-a-kind flagship store in the Crystal Court. This is the first and only Lacoste flagship of its kind in South Africa, offering a bold, future-facing take on the brand’s signature sport-luxe style.

The fashion mix has been further strengthened by a revamped BOSS store, now one of the largest in the country, retailing the popular brand’s fashion and accessory collections. Alongside this is a new opening, United Colours of Benetton, which has brought its distinct Italian style that features iconic colour palettes and fresh silhouettes, all created with a strong focus on sustainability, to the mall. This addition further enhances the mall’s growing appeal to fashion-conscious shoppers.

Mall of Africa – Coach

Local Pride, Lifestyle and Fresh Concepts

Local brand Silki Skincare has grown from a popular SOOK pop-up into a permanent store, driven by strong customer demand. The youthful brand offers a destination for skincare discovery, with complimentary consultations and advanced skin analysis delivered by trained somatologists. Old School, the much-loved South African label founded by two brothers, brings its distinctive take on supporter gear and retro-inspired clothing to the mall, celebrating sporting culture through a modern lens.

Families will be delighted to discover Kids Around in Mall of Africa, offering designer fashion for children from newborn to 16 years, from brands such as Hugo, Karl Largerfeld, Boss, DKNY, Michael Kors and Jacobs & Billy Blush. Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts are also in for a treat with The North Face that has just opened one of only two official stores in South Africa. Diadora adds its unmistakable Italian sporting heritage to the mix, offering a refined selection of lifestyle and performance apparel and footwear, that blends athletic credibility with everyday wearability, appealing to shoppers who appreciate design, comfort and movement in equal measure. Together, these openings deepen the mall’s lifestyle offering and broaden the choices available to diverse shopper groups.

Adding a flavour-led touch, Pantry by Marble has opened its first ever pop-up, serving elevated grab-and-go snacks, sweet and savoury treats and coffee for shoppers on the move. The pop up also includes fresh finds, Pantry favourites and exclusive treats.

“Mall of Africa continues to evolve alongside the people who shop here,” says Yasmeen Lorgat, General Manager of Mall of Africa. “These new openings reflect a strategic mix of global names, local talent and fresh concepts, all chosen to create moments of discovery and connection. We are committed to continually reimagining the retail experience, ensuring every visit offers something new,” she added.
