Johannesburg, 7 October 2026: Cleaner parks, repaired potholes, better-maintained public spaces and new employment opportunities are some of the tangible changes being driven in Bedfordview with the support of local businesses. Bedford Shopping Centre is one of Better Bedfordview’s longstanding supporters, contributing R25 000 every month to help the nonprofit organisation continue its work in the suburb Bedford calls home.
Over the past four years, Better Bedfordview has repaired over 1,000 potholes, maintained roads, pavements, parks and greenery, restored neglected public spaces and created employment for 25 people. Bedford also regularly provides additional support for the organisation and the work it undertakes in the suburb.
“Bedfordview is our home too. Our shoppers, staff, businesses and neighbours use these roads and public spaces every day, so investing in the area around us is a natural extension of the role we want Bedford to play in the community,” says Linda Linnow, General Manager of Bedford. “Better Bedfordview has shown what consistent, practical action can achieve and we are proud to support that work every month.”
Investing in the Place Bedford Calls Home
That connection with the neighbourhood is also reflected in a new large-scale billboard erected by Bedford to celebrate Bedfordview following its recent centenary. Following Bedfordview’s recent centenary, the billboard is a celebration of the neighbourhood itself, reflecting Bedford’s love for the suburb and encouraging the wider community to take pride in the place they call home.
Through its partnership with Better Bedfordview, Bedford will continue supporting practical improvements that make a visible difference to the people who live, work, shop and spend time in the area.
