Johannesburg, 28 November 2025: Learners at two primary schools in Gauteng recently got the most wonderful surprise when Santa himself walked into their classrooms, together with his signature heavy sack of gifts! This was the result of a heartfelt initiative led by Phumulani Mall in Gauteng that left children at Reagile Primary School and Olifantsfontein Primary School smiling long after the visits had ended.

A Visit Filled with Excitement
The fun began when Father Christmas walked onto the school grounds, yelling “Ho, ho, ho!’ much to the children’s delight, and what followed was even more joyful. One hundred learners each got given a beautifully packed gift, each of which contained a brand new school backpack filled with essential stationery such as pens, pencils, crayons and an eraser. For many families, stationery is prohibitively expensive, so the gifts gave both delight to the learners and relief for the parents.
Phumulani Mall has a long-standing relationship with its surrounding community and continues to look for small but meaningful ways to help. By providing these school materials, the mall gave learners something they can use every day and something that helps them feel ready and motivated for the year ahead.
Support That Feels Personal
Teacher Chokoe from Olifantsfontein Primary School shared her appreciation. “We are so grateful to Phumulani Mall for thinking of our learners. School supplies are expensive for many families, and these new bags will make a real difference. The children were thrilled, and we truly appreciate the kindness shown by the mall management team.”
The Santa Surprise brought a sense of warmth and togetherness to both schools, reminding families that they are supported as the festive season begins.
