Telkom adds DStv Now to its LIT service

Great News For DStv Streamers

Telkom announced that it will be offering its customers using the LIT service access to DStv Now. The Telkom LIT Video offering provides free video services to selected content partners at 0% data cost.

Existing and new broadband home customers will also be able to enjoy DStv Now in their homes through their Telkom LIT TV Boxes. MultiChoice has developed its first DStv Now application for large screen viewing which allows existing DStv customers to enjoy their favourite channels and Catch Up shows, streamed via the Telkom LIT hardware at no data cost to them. Existing Telkom LIT customers will automatically receive the DStv Now app as an update to their Telkom LIT TV Box. The content will be specific to DStv Premium, Compact Plus or Compact package. Customers need to have a valid DStv subscription and need to register on DStv to use the DStv Now app.

Telkom Consumer CEO, Attila Vitai says: “We brought you Telkom LIT in September and pledged to constantly enhance the service. Our partnership with MultiChoice cements our commitment to this, especially with access to DStv Now being added to our service. We are working with MultiChoice on future initiatives and believe that our partnership will be hugely beneficial for all our customers.  From the 25th November, Telkom will be further extending its current LIT Music and Video offering to beyond that of the FreeMe packages to cater for the broader Telkom Mobile market.”

“Our focus is to find opportunities to give our customers more value and to give them access to our world of entertainment on the platforms that work for them. Making DStv Now accessible to all Telkom LIT customers, means you never have to miss a moment of the entertainment” said Mark Rayner, COO for MultiChoice South Africa.

DStv Now is DStv’s on-the-go service that offers more than 70 live television channels, as well as an extensive Catch Up library of the latest series, movies, sports and kids shows; accessible online or via the DStv Now app for smartphones, tablets and smart TVs.

Telkom LIT, which was launched in September this year and is the first-of-its-kind free streaming service in South Africa, gives customers access to on-demand movies, series, other video content and music through some of the world’s most popular internet content providers.

“Taking the lead in the data market is a strategic imperative for Telkom and as such, we have created yet another platform from which to drive this business objective by offering customers a compelling entertainment proposition with their Telkom Mobile and LTE data packages as well as Home Unlimited deals,” concludes Vitai.

LIT is available in three options:
