Huisgenoot Skouspel, the pioneering Afrikaans music concert that featured at Sun City annually over the past 15 years, becomes Super Skouspel this year. Instead of consisting of several shows over two weekends, it will now be just one major concert held on Saturday, 19 September, at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. Tickets are on sale now from Computicket starting at R199. There is also a number of transport options including safe and secure parking or park and ride also available to book at Computicket.
This year Huisgenoot has joined forces with KykNet and Big Concerts to reinvent Skouspel. With presenting sponsors Checkers and Clover.
The line-up of artists for the event includes popular icons such as David Kramer and Leon Schuster who will perform their hits. Other Skouspel favourites on the bill are Kurt Darren, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Karen Zoid, Adam Tas, Emo Adams, Andriëtte and Adam. Francois van Coke, one of several new Skouspel voices featured, will perform his hit with Zoid, Toe Vind ek Jou (Then I Found You). Concert-goers can also look forward to appearances by bands such as Mango Groove and Freshly Ground.
A highlight of the evening will be international guest artist Susan Boyle of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ fame. The Scottish singing sensation will be performing in Africa for the first time and will only appear at Super Skouspel during her visit.
At the helm of the production is creative director Ian von Memerty and musical director Janine Neethling, both formidable talents in the local entertainment industry. Performers will be accompanied by a symphony orchestra and two choirs.
The Springboks’ first World Cup rugby match (against Japan), due to start at 17:45 SA time, will be broadcast live on the big screens at the stadium to concert-goers, so make sure you get there early!
