GAZ Returns With a Personal New Single
UK-born, South Africa-based singer-songwriter GAZ has released his new single and accompanying music video, Moving On, marking one of the most personal and emotionally direct moments of his solo career. Following the international attention garnered by his 2025 album My New Skin, this new release represents a significant step in his evolving artistic journey.
A Song Born from Life Experience
Moving On emerged from a deeply personal period in GAZ’s life—a separation from his wife of almost 26 years. The song captures the complex emotions of loss, reflection, and transition. Rather than focusing on conflict, GAZ approaches the subject with clarity and restraint, exploring acceptance and perspective. The result is a piece that resonates far beyond its origin, speaking to anyone navigating change while holding onto what still matters.

The Creative Process
The track took shape during a late-night studio session with producer Mark Beling. An improvised acoustic progression prompted GAZ to record an immediate, unfiltered lyrical response as a voice note. That spontaneous performance became the foundation of the final recording. Instead of reconstructing the song, the production was carefully built around this raw moment, preserving its honesty while adding subtle layers to enrich the sound.
Musicality and Arrangement
Musically, Moving On stays true to GAZ’s alternative pop-rock style, led by acoustic guitar and supported by understated synth textures and bass. The arrangement is intentionally restrained, allowing the vocals and narrative to remain central. Throughout the song, a careful balance of melancholy and warmth reflects the emotional complexity of the story being told.
A notable feature of the track is its evolving chorus, which moves from “I’ll be fine” to “Moving On” and finally to “Me and My Son.” This progression mirrors the emotional journey of the song, shifting from reassurance to acceptance and ultimately to a grounded sense of forward motion.
Perspective and Emotional Honesty
GAZ has described the song as beginning in a moment of raw emotional release before developing into something measured and reflective. What first surfaced as instinct and intensity was later refined with perspective, allowing the final version to convey both honesty and composure. The song avoids blame, instead centering on growth, understanding, and emotional clarity.

Release and Availability
Moving On is now available across streaming platforms, accompanied by a music video and lyric video. The release captures GAZ’s ability to translate personal experience into music that is both intimate and universally relatable
